If only using nukes to wipe out a country wouldn't result in everyone using nukes whenever they feel like it and half the world immediately ejecting your shitters from their territory for being genocidal maniacs they can no longer even trust to do the bare minimum and refrain from immediately trying to kill everyone you don't like
>>
>>539932309
The mountains protects you against drones and missiles. They are iran's greatest strategic asset but that goes 2 ways. Once you take the eastern mountains and dig in, you are fortified. Chinese resupply is cut off, leaving the country a sitting duck.

You can drop long-fall bombs from a watch position in the upper atmosphere where the missiles can't reach. The bombs come with simple aelieron adjustment to guide the fall onto any target, cheap to produce.

Since you have the watch-position you can immediately locate any missile position and pounce on it with tactical teams. These would be the highest casualty group. They would probably base jump in, destroy the emplacement, then skedaddle asap.
>>
>>539930074
dig a tunnel and attack from below
>>
>>539932512
>Once you take the eastern mountains
How
You would have to try and use single lane roads
Your staging area would be massively exposed
If you go in via the coast you are straight into deserts
You have zero protection unless you take in engineering abilities to create fobs, which will be sitting ducks
Bro
Be realistic, if Iran can hit actual US bases, what makes you think for a second the couldnt wipe out every fob you tried to create
>>
What would be the strategic objective? Open the strait that was already open?
>>
>>539932757
Every disadvantage you mention goes both ways. If it's a disadvantage to you, it's a disadvantage to them. The point of being in the mountains is that it provides a degree of cover from attacks.

How many people even live in those mountains? They probably don't know it very well.
>the routes through them are extremely limited
This is not a quick campaign, you have to establish the routes. Likely numerous parallel routes.
>terrain that varies from 15,000 feet to sea level , the ridges are over 6000 feet
Perfect cover against drones and missiles. There's always somewhere to hide. It doesn't perfectly protect you, but it evens the odds. You have drones and missiles too.
In such an environment I expect your tech and gear advantage outweighs them.

>you can't even raise a rebel force anymore. bombing that school has really ruined your brand.
absolutely nailed it. brits would understand, we learned from you guys. americans rely on charming enough locals to stir the pot and to get it primed for some bullshit profit-generating gayops.

our past bullshit wars were full of horrible memes, but at least the average person from those other countries still have good things to say about us. this current situation is slated to be the most bullshit and irredeemable of all time. the people of iran were largely neutral to positive towards the US about 10 years ago, but now thats completely gone for generations without some costly and lengthy resource investment. the current admin clearly has no plans for nation-building, reconstruction, or even political influence this time. they gave up after the protests became so wildly violent yet ineffective. its literally just to fulfill an insane adolescent fantasy at this point.
>>
>>539933776
bro
come on now, dont be silly
everywhere you go you need a logistics trail behind you
you can carry 3 days food, after that you need supply lines, soon as you put in supply lines you show your exact route back to staging
you cant use helis, air drops or anything like that
its a death sentence
>>
>>539930074
Paratroopers. Like hamas did in Israel.
>>
>>539933980
I mean I'm assuming we have aerial supremacy and we can just drop supplies wherever. We have to transport some earth movers to forge trails and dig fortified bases. That would be the hardest part of this.
>>
>>539932512
Anon, your plan might sounds good to noobs but your plan has major achilles point. Supply lines. No force can survive in a "fort" if it doesn't have secured supply lines to keep its forces alive. Your plan of digging into Iran mountains will make Dunkirk shy

wouldnt their mountains already be fortified with cheaper yet cost-effective weaponry? things like RPGs, drones, tunnels for movement and stockpiles, and jammers. the hard part is the initial movements of the US military since it has to be near-perfect in both quality of information and communication to not be considered a financial loss. if these were ukrainians i wouldnt even bother trying to waste so many resources this way, and this is iran afterall.
>>
>>539934123
We have missiles capable of delivering explosives. Why not missiles capable of delivering supplies? The missile deploys a parachute and unfolds landing supplies safely. In reality you have ays of delivering the supplies. Just drop it from really high flying planes, or drone them in. Once you establish dug-in bases you have supply caches too.

Also if they are shooting at supply drones they aren't shooting at you. That gives away their position for a counterattack. The more things they have to shoot at, eventually they are stretched thin. They can't shoot missiles at Saudi Arabia, AND your squad in the Eastern mountains, AND your tactical squad pouncing on the missiles, AND your ships, AND your resupply lines. The more targets they have, eventually they are stretched thin and the holes start to show, like a cloth that's stretched too thin.
>>
>>539934106
>I'm assuming we have aerial supremacy
kek
thats a huge assumption and its completely wrong
when you do air drops, you have to go slow, China has 100% been supplying manpads
Iran has been strapping basic heatseekers to drones for air launch
In order to stage anything you would need permission from the following(for the east)
Afghanistan
Turkmenistan
Pakistan
In the west, Kuwait/Iraq is pretty much the only options and they have already been taking massive hits, there are 2 areas you can do coastal landings but they both lead into swamps
The rest is beaches and cliffs

Its an absolute nightmare for modern military planning, there is a reason no-one has tried it before in modern day

Iran has significantly more oil than Iraq, they would have been taken out years ago and given
>democracy
If was at all possible
>>
>>539934344
>waste so many resources this way,
You have to cut them off from China or you're fighting a hydra with unlimited heads. Cutting off the east is a good plan especially because they have less control over that part of their country. You might even get assisstance from the nearby nations if you offer them a chunk of that territory.
>>
>>539934498
But this is not lowflying aircraft, it's at like 50,000 feet. Can the manpads shoot something they can't even see?
>permission from the following
Or else what? They can't do anything.
>Its an absolute nightmare for modern military planning
It's hard for both, and I suspect the side with more intelligence wins.

>>

No strategist in the world think this is a practical idea, the only hope for America is to take cities one by one east to west which will take minimum 20 years.

no doubt. i just dont see a solo southern staging area being a clean victory in any situation. if the US can somehow form a staging area in the caspian sea that'd be ideal, but thats probably impossible with the current admin. it seems the current strat is to get resources into iraq to then form a western front to support the southern front. the recent events in the past few days in iraq seem like iran is trying to prevent that possibility
>>
>>539934976
>you will dig "yourself" in?
Iran can't muster huge armies of men in that terrain. It will be smaller squads. If they use drones, so can you. The US has the eye in the sky seeing everything. You know where the enemy is
>>
>>539934758
bro
WTF are you talking about
25,000 is your max and even then the chances of a successful drop in the mountains is minimal due to thinner atmosphere and micro climates etc
You have to slow down, you then become a sitting duck to a host of systems Iran has
You also literally pinpoint where your troops are

Its suicide
The only way to successfully invade Iran is the following
A sustained multi direction air campaign, targeting roads, infrastructure at main bases and cities
Then a rapid strike pattern at all known mountain bases, not to destroy but to block access
Then shear numbers, literally a million ground troops, using rapid attack patterns with helis al la vietnam to get to those bases and poison the air vents etc, make them uninhabitable
While this is going on, you need to start taking the following cities
Tehran
Bandar Abbas
Ahvaz
Isfahan
Kermanshah
Tabriz
Mashhad

that means controlling 25 million people, in hostile ground, while trying to maintain the biggest logistics routes the world has ever seen

Its absolutely fucking impossible
>>
>>539935073
>you know where the enemy is?
No you don't, even israel till this day can't find every hezbollah spot in south Lebanon+ you didn't know in Afghanistan.
>smaller squads
Can you quantify them? And btw they can collect a big army in a minute and not from Iran only; This is a known fact

sure, but then the entire world, including its own allies, invades the US via landing in bumfuck Alabama by way of the Gulf of Drumpf
>>
>>539935523
It took over a year to plan and implement the iraq invasion
they staged all of it in the GCC
the build up required for any invasion is not possible now
all the bases are active targets and putting the forces needed into them is suicide, the losses you would start taking would be unacceptable

Thats why these bases are so vulnerable, they are staging areas, logistic hubs, they were never meant to be in active combat
The second the US starts trying to build up anything like what would be needed Iran will go straight to end game
Whatever that is
