Why are we no longer building variable-sweep wing planes
>>539938511Rule of cool is dead, the age of fake and gay is here.
>>539938511Drones have rendered them obsolete
>>539938511Eventually they'll just be orbs since drones don't need to worry about pulling G's.
>>539938758Yup. The prototypes are looking pretty cool
>>539938511because high speed sam evasion and intercepting supersonic bombei horde isnt a thing anymore
>>539938511Low radar cross-section became more important than the combination of high speed and maneuverability.Same thing happened in bombers, the variable-sweep B-1 got superseded by the stealth B-2.
>>539938511Because some jews decided to waste trillions in making radar "invisible" meme planes that cost even more and are even shittier in everything but draining the goyim from their taxpayer money.
>>539938758They actually do. Machines don't have problems with the blood pooling on their toes but machines do feel the Gs as well, they can and will fail if the Gs are too harsh.
>>539938511They're fucking heavy and now that we have computerized flybywire and everything's designed for instability for better reactiveness variable sweep designs aren't really necessary anymore. Well for fighters anyway. But the benefits you gain in a swept wing design doesn't really care whether it's swept forward or swept back so for the limited use cases for variable sweep you can do some real retarded shit by pivoting an entire solid wing about a single bearing and reap all the benefits without the weight and complexity tax you saw on platforms like the f14.It's sort of like that stupid f1 car from the 70s with 4 small front steers. It existed to solve a problem we have sort of bypassed.
>>539939745Ok nerd. You obviously know exactly what I mean to follow it to the logical conclusion. Congration, ya dun it.
>>539940000Checked. Nice digits and info.
>>539940111Just saying that drones are not immune to Gs so don't expect some clarktech levels of bullshit maneuvers from drones with the pilots. Given your trackrecord I wouldn't be surprised if you, by some miracle, manage to make some hypersonic drones and shit you end up with drones that randomly crash because some cable inside disconnects because of the Gs, or the stealth coating peeling off because of the speed and Gs, or the whole thing breaking mid air after pulling a high G turn. That would be 20 trillion to develop, 150 million per piece + the tip tho.
>>539938511Modern radar, drones and missiles have made the carrier based interceptor role obsolete. Loitering drones with modern munitions provide a higher level of area control than any interceptor ever could. These drones can control huge area's for 20+ hours each flight. No need to intercept when you're already there.
>>539938511Moving wings requires a lot of additional moving parts, which are always the weakest and most complex elements of any complex machine.
>>539938511Maintenance whores. Is no longer required due to advancement of tech
>>539938511we've lost this technology. Best we can do is deep underground military bases to conduct genetic chimera experiments to make man made horrors beyond comprehension.
>>539943359WE LOST THE TECHNOLOGY WE ONLY KNOW HOW TO CHOP OFF PENISES NOAWWHO NEEDS JET PLANE WHEN YOU DONT HAVE A PENIS
>>539938511The traditional jewish aerodynamic lift model itself is the canard now.
China stole the technology and won't give it back. Same with Apollo 11.
>>539943018Soviets told us that everything was done by the pilot using levers and spindals with wires.Back then mil pilots had more responsibility than just fly the plane.
>>539938511Because "muh stealth".
>>539940000Uhhhh sick digits but fly by wire was 100% something the tomcat had. Im sorry im just brutally aerospace autistic.
>>539940846
I miss the F/FB-111
When jews took over the government the military shutdown an unimaginable amount of stuff.
