Betavoltaics were invented in the 1970s.[3] Some pacemakers in the 1970s used betavoltaics based on promethium,[4] but were phased out as cheaper lithium batteries were developed.[1]

Coin cell batteries already last 40+ years. My copy of Zelda 1 still has saves on the original battery from 1986.

if i take that battery apart and eat its contents will i get superpowers?

using plutonium thermoelectrics is better, they have been in use for over 50 years

I don't know where to start on what is wrong with this.
But do you want niggers and junkies to be fiddling with these things?
>>
>>539971020
They already fiddle with fentanyl which can kill you in microgram doses.
>>
>>539971020
Plenty of toddlers already swallow normal coin batteries on the regular. With this they're fucking dead almost guaranteed unless the exterior is designed to survive through the GI tract.
>>
>>539969117
No they don't, they just happened to last longer in those cartridges cause they're only maintaining SRAM. It may come as a shock to you, but there's more than voltage when dealing with batteries and lifespans would be based on power draw. This is based on nuclear decay which has a hard limit of 50 years on this specific setup. Quit being a fucking retarded nigger.

The juice is worth the squeeze when there's incentive and infrastructure to produce the isotopes at scale. Maybe we could've built out decent energy production instead of 'investing' trillions on chatbots and trying to feed retarded brownies, but here we are.
>>
>>539969117
That's crazy my neighbor had to replace theirs in like 88' . Had no idea they had batteries in nes games prior
>>
>>539966291
Their power output is small for their size. If you wanted to power a traditional consumer device your battery would be much larger than the device.
>>
>>539971698
>he doesn't know about fingerboxes
>>
>>539966291
shit energy output. cannot scale for practical purposes. only niche applications and most of them aren't concerning plebs
that "single watt" version might be as big as a shoebox if not larger. and would cost a whole fucking lot
>>
>>539969117
The only nintendo batteries I've had go bad were games I got second hand. All mine still work.

Imagine the 1st country that says 'fuck it', and builds a nuclear reactor infrastructure, and provides (near) unlimited "free" energy. It's an absolutely massive jobs program, from low-blue collar to extreme high-end of PHDs, all good paying. Massive cost savings to the actual people that live in the country, utility costs are HIGHLY regressive against the working classes. The domestic industrial capacity would spike, and then after the reactors are built, they power those same factories, undercutting production costs, and making foreign trade look better for the buyers.
>>
>>539971982
Their lifespan is based on nuclear decay rather than chemical potential. The latter is easily affected by environment, nuclear decay is not.
Your Zelda 1 NES cartridge only retains charge because it was stored in good conditions (low moisture, stable ambient temperature, relatively few operational cycles).
This would be irrelevant to the life of a nuclear battery.
>>
>>539969117
Such a strange thing to think that there are copies of that, or Phantasy Star, that could have saves dating back to the 80s still on them and working.
>>
>>539973051
it's real, but the power of that battery is very low, also it's very expensive.
It's a good option for only few real life applications, like to be used in a pacemaker
>>
>>539966291
What about Smart Nuclear Quantum Lunar Moon Landing batteries?
>>
>>539969117
The manual back in 89 when I got it gave me anxiety because it said it would only last 5 years. It was still holding saves about 15 years ago when I sold off my collection. Wish I kept it though, would be worth more too even with inflation

Now we aren't talking but I was right

Sweet I would just need about 266 +-1 to power an electric car. Plus side never have to charge it in the next 50 years. Down side is if I crash it everybody dies horribly.
