The Daily Show is notable for one thing: destroying leftist competency. Before it existed leftists had to try and understand each leftist issue based on its own supposed logic, and there was more disagreement on their side. The Daily Show used "humor" to dislodge them from the need to operate within reason.>if funny = trueOnce it became a popular show and the idea of "newsertainment" was born, leftists began to subconsciously assume that there would be a joke coming against them if they weren't in automatic agreement with what was being said by leftist media in general. From then on their only options were to be a more hardline leftist (the kind that's too cool for mainstream leftism and angry about it to showcase he has taken another step left than the media is willing to take) or an empty-headed yes-man who is waiting for his Daily Propaganda so he knows what to think. The changes in behavior were visible right away and someone who would have normally read a book in order to have some groundwork on their own leftism would now just parrot the exact jokes that were on the show the night before regarding every political issue at hand and be surprised if their reenactment didn't cause you to toss your logic away for some trite puns like they did.
