The difference between an NPC and a player character consists of three things: 1. Intelligence, 2. a lack of laziness and drive to affect the world and most importantly 3. Recursion (being aware of one's own behaviour, able to question one's own behaviour and biases and to question the questioning of one's own behaviour and biases)An intelligent person is still an NPC if they don't have recursion. Many leftoids and foids are like this. A person with recursion is still functionally an NPC if they are lazy and lacking in drive to influence the world. Many tech addicts and fat depressed unhealthy men are like this. And finally, men with recursion and drive but no intelligence just become schizos.
