They have essentially a university education, their courses include psychology and philosophy and they're trained to de-escalate and use the minimum amount of force necessary. The number of military trained men is around 1m and there's less than 7k cops in the whole country. Very rarely they have to shoot somebody and even more rarely that person dies. All things considered we have the best trained police force in the world I believe. That doesn't mean none of them are douche bags, some are.LEO in America varies a lot, you get the overworked slobs of stress especially with the LAPD and NYPD who at least have better training than most other departments but as contrast they also have sheriffs who are elected by the people, basically anyone can become a sheriff. Then they have federal cops like Marshalls, FBI, ICE etc.In Finland the entire police force works under the interior ministry, same as border/coast guard and customs, and their training is standardized.
