I've worked for a powerplant here (which is set to be shut down in 2030 despite having nothing to replace it with lol) and I was completely shocked to find out there's pretty much no national program to ensure energy safety, production, etc. They just left it at all to the free market as if it were the market for sausages or bikes. To top things off they did regulate things by banning coal and some other means of production figuring that the market will ensure replacements are ready to be fired up come 2030.
