Sending people to war is a form of ritual human sacrifice. The form of worship in the Jewish Second Temple was to buy an animal, ranging in size from a dove to an ox, from the temple priests, and they would slaughter the animal and perform the rites. The priests would also keep the animal you bought so they could eat the meat and sell the hide (those guys always have to make a profit). You had to pay for the sacrifice with shekels, which was just one kind of money in the region at the time. Pilgrims would have to exchange their currency for shekels at the temple (at an exchange rate set by the priests, again, PROFIT). Basically, they reached the point where it was no longer worth the trouble.I don't see how the war with Iran could possibly reverse this trend. Yes, Kharg Island is there and it has 90% of Iran's export infrastructure. Bomb that plus every oilfield and Iran will not recover in this century. Without money and without the ability to ship oil for the next 30 years, all of their friends will turn their backs on them really fast. They'll fire whatever rockets they have and then descent into poverty and civil conflict. Without even the means of paying its own people, their "revolutionary zeal" is going to dry up real quick.The problem is whether solving the Iran war is worth making another blackhole of human misery and all the problems that it brings. But as for the war itself, it could be over in 3 days if the US decided that, for once, they actually want total war.

We got blinded by capitalist pipe dreams instead of destroying Russia and China, back when they were weakened in the 90s, it would prime time. We should have genocided them when we had the ripe opportunity, now there's an opportunity to rid ourselves of the entire middle east and we're failing to capitalize on it. If we're doing this anyway then we have to go all the way, no take-backsies, we aren't going to spare jews in total war as disposable assets to ensure western dominance.
