As an outsider looking in at the American/Iranian conflict i can say that America has the military capability of taking over Iran but not the political motivation. The public has become soft and doesn't support the country. People will say they are living through tough times but so were people in the past yet that didn't stop them from supporting their country. They scapegoat countries like Israel as a nation of cowards afraid to fight yet, they've being fighting Iranian proxies and drafting their population into the military for years.Because of the lack of military support this will make things harder for Americans. Just like what happened with Vietnam by slowing down military support. The Americans who call themselves patriotic are the most pacifist and even willing to ally with American enemies, often for a quick buck.

>>540075778It’s one thing to take something and another to hold it. The U.S. only has about 1.5 million active and inactive military personnel. It would take probably 5 million to invade Iran with some hope of winning.
The Iran/Iraq war lasted 8 years starting in 1980. Both sides killed each other by the thousands during that time. I know Iraq really haven't perfected the art of war since then. Not sure about Iran though. Its best to just bomb them back to the stone age.

Hell even though they were advancing through flat hard pan desert the US still encountered logistical difficulties.Iran is a giant mountain range with a rugged valley running through it. Fighting into would be a nightmare for the US and their logistics would a complete mess. The Iranian army is not a hollowed out demoralized mass of men that the Iraqi one was and their commanders are intelligent war fighters, not the dictator's kids. Iran can shoot down planes and blow up tanks. The US would not be able to operate close air support and would have to rely on atmospheric bombers which could not be relied upon to provide timely and accurate support. American combat troops would be getting decimated by drones and missiles and artillery while they struggled up slopes. And once they entered the first major city that would be end of the advance, the US would lose 500+ soldiers a day trying to street fight a competent army in an urban environment.The US is a paper tiger, and the US government knows it.

One thing not a lot of people are aware of is that the Iranians never diversified their economy enough, the economy recently collapsed and they have some of the lowest energy costs in the world. And they have several million exiles around the world and send people chasing them around the world. So something weird is going on that we don't know about.We have Iranian and counter iranian protests going on in England so they are clearly chasing each other around the world.
