local councils should supply large skips and a disposal point in each area of a city every few months for a few days for local population to dispose of their larger waste which the council would transport to the relevant disposal facilities. this would reduce fly tipping and ensure appropriate disposal of waste

My community does a junk pickup day once per year(you still have to buy sticker-tags for them), and the landfill, while open to town residents only(you can’t even pay to dump), requires a yearly permit sticker issued by the town to be affixed to your vehicle window, and only will issue one per address, with no provisions for issuing them to multi-family homes, apartments, etc. Just having an in-town address on my license should be enough, damnit. So, because the town won’t even let us burn wood/etc in barrels, let alone in a burn pile, I’m forced to break down and cut up then bag various large items I want to get rid of that I can’t even give away, or otherwise I dump furniture/appliances/etc at the local thrift stores after hours, right next to the donations entrance, as they would turn most of this shit away if I tried to do so during store hours. Out in the country, one would just find a good dumping ravine to toss shit down until it starts to get too noticeable, then move on to a new one so that the stuff can slowly become one with the earth again.

This was already posted up by my landlord in WV when I started renting one of the three trailers he hauled up a rather steep hill onto a plateau(couldn’t fit any more up there) and called it a “trailer court”. The hillside was between the trailers and main road, maybe 10ft wide, not even a proper dumping hill.
