Can you refute this without appealing to figures from the distant past?
First off, the quote is referring to the present.
Second off, much of the past artwork that would be cited was made by people that - while they would undoubtedly be considered right-wing if they were dropped into the modern day - were fairly progressive, liberal, or at the very least anti-tradition for their own time.

Also, no libertarians unless they're extremely chud-coded or something. Libertarians aren't conservative per se (you essentially have to be anti-tradition to advocate for an actual libertarian state) and they tend to hate the Right only slightly less than they hate the Left. I would not consider John McAfee a "right wing" figure, for instance. Not that he was an artist. But you get my point.

AWD weren't (and similar groups aren't) nihilists though. They genuinely believe in Nazism, race war, a fascist state, etc. Most frogposters don't actually want those things, they're just saying they do to be edgy and contrarian. Yeah, they might hate nonwhites, but they don't actually want to die in a race war and they don't actually want to live in an authoritarian state that takes their rights away and forces them to give up their hobbies / habits.

Where's all this art "the left" is supposedly making? I know a lot of people who call themselves artists but I only know 2 who regularly produce paintings. One has vague politics and the other is a social dropout with none. I used to know one actual painter who was a full on communist but she had more in common with MAGA than anyone repping "the left" online.

It might be closer to the truth to say: nobody produces art.

The artists are left-wing because the vast majority support the Democrats and/or donate to liberal causes, even if they aren't someone who publicly talks about politics often. This goes for musicians, filmmakers, etc. Virtually all of them are at least casually liberal.
>>
>>540122795
The entire anime and manga industry is right wing because the vas majority support conservative ideas and or donate to conservative causes, even if they aren't someone who pubblicly talks about politics often. It doesn't. No one literally wants to go back to the 1950's. They're just anachronistically picking aspects they like. Even those who actually think they want to go back to the 1950's simply don't know what they're talking about about. Besides, what's your excuse for not accepting progressive transpecies AI relationships, nazi? It's 3026. Get with the times. Plug yourself into the matrix already and look at the shadows on the wall. You're arguing against yourself.

Leftists are usually more insane which can make them better artists. Your mistake is assuming that this matters at all about how to organize and govern society. Leftists are shit at that. A leftist being better at art has nothing to do with how society should be run and if anything should be an argument against them wielding power.

William Faulkner was one of the great modernist writers he punlished his last novel just over 60 years ago. He also was an explicit southern sympathiezer and he waxed on it far less poetically in many interviews then in the above quote.

I understand his sentiment, but his phrasing is retarded because he associated it with muh left right politics.
What he means is the political status quo can't make good art.
To an extent, it's very true.
Counterculture has the passion and something to actually say.
How many pro-iraq war songs came out that made an impact? Are you still listening to Tobey Queefs "courtesy of the red white and blue"?
Sure maybe Avenged Sevenfolds "critical acclaim" but if you analyze it past the "being anti war makes soldiers big mad so stop bullying the hecking soldierinos" it's an absolutely retarded song.
>The right isn't the status quo
Correct, it's why it dominated meme culture for so long. The left had 8 years dunking on Bush (for good reason) and when their time came and Obama did the exact same shit, well they couldn't look like they were wrong or they'd have to admit their smug faggotry was nothing more than surface level analysis.
>So who owns the status quo now
No one has a clear answer.
What happened is NGOs and corpos realized they could pay influencers to push their bullshit and since they are all desperate whores for money they will sell out in a heart beat and millennial and gen z don't even comprehend the concept of being a sell out, and the one that do are obnoxious libtards who cry about made up moral faggotry like feminism and muh gay rights.
>Also Fantano used to be apolitical before he got his tour cancelled because his podcast interviewed Sam Hyde (with a fairly non offensive interview).
>When faced with not becoming a political tool even if it meant getting a real job, or being a left wing mouth piece to avoid having to do real work, he CHOSE to become an obnoxious political faggot to the same people that went after him, then acted as if the people who make fun of this move are the evil ones.
I have no love or sympathy for Fantano. He made hos choice and deserves as much respect as anyone who loves their abusers rather than fighting back.

I enjoyed mass effect yeah, but primarily for the world building which is mostly thanks to that one autistic writer who was responsible for explaining the element zero tech and how it was integrated into biotics and weapons and other tech. Mass Effect also had plenty of themes of soldierly duty and self sacrifice that gave a conservative like me similar things to grab onto as what Bungie era halo offered.

Also mass effects progressive values were really just because it was made by Canadians. Watching Stargate gave me similar moments of confusion that served as reminders the writers were Canadian. And looking at what those values led to today just takes me back to that saying I keep quoting:

I'm going to need you to prove this on a case by case basis. You have no reason to believe they would agree with your modern politics. A lot of Anons were even progressive leaning until they saw where that was heading and changed course.

Also, because you like to play semantics games and act like being innovative means progressive when being "progressive" actually means "making progress" on advocating for Non-White ethnic groups, homosexuality, and women's suffrage. If making progress in general made you progressive than the German National Socialist part would be progressive for inventing rockets and the Autobahn.

Anyways, Thomas Cole is probably one of if the greatest painter.

Yep, which is why the modern western game industry is floundering. Meanwhile, the more conservative Asian gacha industry is outperforming the western industry to an embaressing degree
>>
>>540122297
Conservatives aren't regressive, that's a common miscommunication. They simply illustrate that their beliefs are feasible and work well by pointing to tell life examples of them being implemented throughout history. This is obviously confusing to the liberal because any life examples of their policies being enacted is a self evident argument for why they shouldn't be so instead you much always appeal to an imagined future utopian state where your "new" ideas are implemented "for the first time." The truth being your ideas are nearly as old as recorded history and have been tried and failed many many times before as the plays of Aristophanes illustrate, among others.

I mean legitimately most modern art is shit. Just oscar bait trying to meet diversity quotas or some sort of over produced degenerate ass music about shaking asses or self empowerment. Or a video game overlayed with left wing politics and/or that appropriates western culture but with a cosmopolitan spread of demographics for the modern diversity obsessed left wing mind. Much of Japan still makes genuinely worthwhile art and they are overwhelming conservative or moderate compared to the insanity of western politics.

Another thing is that people with right wing opinions almost instantly get canceled, rejected, or just overall locked out of most modern artistic industries like film, games, etc. How the fuck are you supposed to make conservative art when no one will invest in you because they risk losing their vanguard/blackrock bucks?

Ultimately youre asking why right wingers dont make art in a society hellbent on preventing them from doing so. And if they do they have to be clandestine about it.

While it doesn't appear he was an over the top racist all of your claims seem to come from one letter he wrote to his publisher when the Lord of the Rings was being published in National Socialist Germany and they asked him to make a public declaration of Aryanhood and he said politely declined as he was uncomfortable expressing pro-German sentiment while living in a country that was at war with Germany. If anything there's quite a bit of argument he had rather unintentionally "racist" views.

But I do not want to do so here as I don't want the (already popular and well-known) artists in question to embroiled in sperg-drama.
I don't know why this bipartisan meme came up that 'X' or 'Y' can't make Art, Art, at very high levels, is made by exceptions who hardly belong to any group but will 'identify' with a group for other reasons etc.
If anyone was serious about improving quality it would begin with genuine development of the senses required to enjoy whatever medium they wanted to focus on.

Art reflects the elite.
There's no such thing as a nation or culture being artistically represented by anti-establishment popular art. Even the U.S.A., a nation that has spread subversive art throughout the world, did not do so because this art was anti-establishment, but precisely because the American cultural elite is Jewish. The subversive nature of Americans art is merely a representation of their cultural elite.
At American universities, 90% of professors are "left-wing", compared to only 10% who are "right-wing". In an environment where the intellectual elite is so biased, it's impossible for artists to be right-wing. Anyone who thinks otherwise has absolutely no idea how the dynamics of the elitist art world work.

You also have to argue that they were progressive for their time. Where did they advocate for the acceptance of non-White ethnics to be given citizenship/welfare, homosexuality, or women's suffrage. Conservatism doesn't even exist in the US anymore. This ideology was subverted by Jews more than 50 years ago, giving rise to neoconservatism. You know, those guys talking about "Judeo-Christian ideals" and defending anything that benefits Israel, even when it clearly goes against American interests.
In any case, the people making memes mocking the liberal establishment's worldview aren't necessarily "conservatives," nor even "neocons"; they're just people who see that the emperor has no clothes. Like the child in the fable, they are the people who aren't part of the "game", and so they can point out reality without fear.

Jesus christ if you think "citizen vigilante" was "suppressed" by jews, you are the exact type of goyim the movie was made for. That movie was pure jew indoctrination. Who the fuck do you think created the mass migration situation we have in the west today? Muslims? I didn't know there were muslims in power at the time.
Kikes pushed for all this mass migration in order to create hatred in the western youth towards muslims, so that they will be more likely to support wars of aggression in the middle east. This movie is just helping to direct the youths anger in the "right" direction.
Notice how the citizen vigilante never goes after the jewish NGO that you can trace all this mass migration back to? Or even the politicians. He strictly went after the lowly migrants themselvs. EXACTLY how the jews want you to feel.

And this is why goyim are slaves... Because people like you are too fucking retarded to see the obvious agenda behind this shit.

In fact, they do value it, and you'll find plenty of books and other materials where they explain why art is important and what its role is, from a conservative perspective.
It turns out that, as I mentioned in another post, conservatism has been out of fashion in the U.S. since at least 1960, when the Jews pulled another one of their stunts, subverting British-style conservatism and transforming it into that Zionist travesty known as neoconservatism.
In fact, this is a common trait in Jewish "collaboration" with the West. They take rational, well-founded ideas and turn them into the purest intellectual garbage, which serves absolutely no purpose other than to defend collective Jewish interests.

Most video games and comics from 1980 to 2016 were created by chuddy goy bros. Still is that way in spite of them being forced out of the industry. There's a lot of chuddy conservative writers, too. Many times you might have a great artist who happens to be a leftist but that's not the focus of his art, which tends speak to a shared human experience rather than fleeting political takes. Most artists fundamentally conservative in the sense that their goal is to refine their own culture into something which persists throughout time, rather than spreading an ideology across the planet.
>>

The left isn't making great art anymore either, as American culture has become a dumbed down version of nigger ghetto culture. The top selling musical artists in America are
1. rappers
2. country music
3. Espanol music

So the argument can definitely be made that too much liberal influence on a country ruins creative output and results in a dead art scene where worthy art isn't produced at all. Humans create art as an escape from their real surroundings, and when a society is numbed by psych meds, oversaturated with entertainment options and information, and glued to the internet, art suffers and eventually dies.

The future of American art is Spanish music, gang graffiti, RIP murals on walls, and other ornaments of the third world void.

> How is the first Iron Man right-wing?
Easy:
1. Tony is a chauvinist. This is portrayed as endearing and even if it irritates those around him he's objectively correct.
2. Tony is a billionaire and him bring a billionaire that uses his money on his own flights of fancy is portrayed as objectively being better for the world than of be redistributed his wealth
3. Tony makes and manufactures weapons of war and is pro-military and pro-imperialist
4. Tony is a womanizer. This is portrayed as endearing.
5. Tony takes advantage of his power dynamic over Pepper to make her launder his various paramours clothing and taxi then home and then seduces and beds her. This is portrayed as endearing and a good thing.
6. Tony flies to a foreign nation and commits an act of war in violation of the Geneva convention. This is portrayed as a good thing
7. Tony is anti-NATO (in the first two movies) and is pro small government, no regulations, and prob second amendment up to and including private ownership of home made weapons of mass destruction. This is portrayed as an objectively good and correct thing.
8. Tony is transphobic and makes fun of Rhodey for flirting with what he's pretty sure was a crossdresser while drunk. This is portrayed as a good thing.
9. Tony generally is a masculine guy that spends his time working on muscle cars, listening to rock music, drinking, and banging supermodels while being problematic

Most good art is made by conservatives. Conservativism is centrist but modern progressive retardation considers it rightwing because they act like every delusion they have is a century's truth that is receiving pushback exclusively from reactionaries. If you look deep enough you'll find conservative beliefs behind most of the great artists. Even shit like Hollywood is often half and half between progressives and conservatives. Conservatives just don't often voice their opinions anymore due to years of progressive terror and the docile nature of conservativism. Go back a couple decades and you'll find outspoken conservative beliefs everywhere in art. Conservativism has always been the view of the majority and thus is a great share of the artists.

Because we’re too busy working and paying your bills for you, you absolute parasite. You want us to make art? Lay off the pot and get a fucking job. Stop importing an endless army of foreign grifters. Stop simping for everything with a pussy and a pulse long enough to realize that you’re a pawn of an international financial cabal hell-bent on enslaving anyone who even remotely represents a threat to their rule. But you don’t want that, do you? You want the endless flow of ‘neet-bux’ so that you can continue to pursue the desperate dream of one day ‘selling’ your gay poetry for food. You want your marijuana and your shrooms and your loose blue-haired roasties with daddy-issues. You want it easy, but easy doesn’t produce anything meaningful, does it? That’s why your comics are garbage, your movies are cancer, your music is noise pollution, and your books are Mormon-smut. There’s more passion behind a 2-minute Black Templars fanisode by some sweaty teenager with 2 hours of experience in Blender than your biggest ‘blockbuster’ projects. You know it too, that’s why you spend so much time infiltrating and latching on to right-wing spaces. That’s why you spend so much time trying to trick us into creating for you. Because to a crook the best art is always someone else’s. It’s why you’re here.

Marvel has a surprising amount of rightwing productions whether intentional or not. Multiverse of Madness was essentially mocking woke shit during its peak including having an entire woke superhero team slaughtered by a White woman who just wanted to be a mother. It was pretty obvious the director was maliciously complying with executive requests. The new Spiderman had an evil black guy in it and a joke using crossdressing as mockery. I could go on more but the point is that it is still there even in modern stuff which is surprising. Even Black Panther basically made BLM beliefs out to be destructive and chaotic while a conservative king was the hero.

Thanks, Anon. I've been thinking about that a lot. > What does it mean to be conservative and what would be its complement?

I think society lives and breathes, adapts to the world in accordance with two fundamentally different types of men. Temporal men, who look inward to refine their culture to stand the test of time, and spatial men who spread their culture to new horizons. Both must exist for a society to adapt to a changing world.

The spatial impulse discovers new possibilities, while the temporal impulse tests, refines, and preserves what proves enduring. When either dominates, society drifts toward pathology—either relentless disruption or paralyzing stagnation. My concern is that contemporary Western culture has become disproportionately spatial, weakening the institutions that preserve civilizational memory. If that diagnosis is correct, the task is not to eliminate the spatial impulse, but to restore a balance in which preservation and innovation once again temper one another.

Okay, I'm not going to repeat myself for every one of these.
Tony is supposed to be a hero despite his character flaws because that makes him an interesting character and a contrast to someone like Captain America. That doesn't mean everything about him is good.

This. ‘Conservatism’ is just anyone with pattern recognition attempting to tell others there’s a hole in the boat and we need to start bailing. It’s been branded ‘right-wing’ the same way challenging the public hypothesis will brand you a ‘conspiracy theorist’. ‘Woke’ originally meant you were aware of ‘subtle’ corporate manipulations, and it was twisted into a left-wing concept. It only works because we are trapped within the confines of a vast, unthinking herd of consooomers. ex- “Durr of course they can change the definition of vaccine and immunity, they’re the heckin’ experts”.

China does akshually have some good stuff, although I have not seen great yet. But similar to products from any region, the most popular is rarely the best.
As importantly, Chinese investors have done an excellent job in not meddling with the artists they invest into, and the government has been fair about this too (not applying their own laws to foreign markets that local companies are technically selling to.) The West should learn from this rather than trying to force their morality everywhere.

The cover art too is right wing as it depicts basedface libs, one being victimized by a negro criminal. In all seriousness though any musician with right wing views with actual talent is probably going to keep his views to himself. You’re going to alienate well over half the potential audience (young people in larger cities) and risk getting your career blackballed by promoters, clubs, and loud screeching liberals. Agnostic front had to disavow the above song by saying they were too high on PCP at the time to write music or lyrics so they payed Peter Steele from Type O Negative to write the whole album. Steele for his part says he stands by the lyrics, but Agnostic Front told him the concept and what to write about and he just executed and filled in the details. He doesn't really learn anything from that, though, other than he needs to build a personal weapon that he can carry with him that would protect him from the equivalent of a SWAT team. He starts to flirt with the idea of being self appointed sheriff of all global conflict, but then he realizes Jeff Bridges was behind the attack and diverts his attention to him. Honestly this is a great point everyone kind of brushed past. Why would it matter if they were considered progressive for their time (doubt) if conservatives of this time could be sent back there and allegedly be considered progressive for that time? It would only be relevant if the silent implication that they would also be progressive today were true, which it likely isn't since many Anons were progressive leaning until they saw where it was headed and changed course

Yes, plus its a very western thing. Most countries are way more conservative, anti gay, anti immigration, racists. Does Anthony not like any music from the middle east? or south America? Those people are way more conservative, I just think they can't accept that the overton window has moved waaaay further to the left, where you have guys like Charlie Kirk cheering on gay sex laws being abolished in other countries, thats how liberal we all are now. Its not the norm the world over though.
>>
>>540135660
I've had this argument with reddit commies before. The founding fathers of the USA were the progressives of their time. They were building a nation in which a Dutch Protestant can live as neighbors next to a Spanish Catholic and prosper in peace and friendship. Even as Spain occupies Dutch lands in Europe and abroad. To a leftist, that seems rather narrow. But to anyone else who actually gives respect to history, it is a profound thought.
>>
>>540135577
O.K. I still say regardless of why character growth he may or may not have experienced he would still be conservative at the end based on his characterization in Iron Man 2 and even Avengers and arguably Iron Man 3, as well. It's not until Age of Ultron where he starts getting really paranoid and questioning his beliefs leading to him going full GloboHomo in Civil War, which was ridiculous as based on his past characterization it would've made way more sense for him to oppose the Accords and Rogers to support them.
>>
>>540135660
Because conservatism is fundamentally about conserving what currently is or reclaiming what recently was. There is no separating a conservative's values from the prevailing culture they've been brought up in. That is fundamentally different from someone from the past who was anti-tradition for their time period, even if they were right wing by today's standards. Conservatives are pro-tradition, period. They will defend whatever tradition because it's their tradition.

They also want to play the semantics game to obfuscate the fact that they're truly just political extremists. I.e. they believe all the good in the world is housed in them and that all of the bad in the world is housed in those they disagree with. They just cover it up with playing on the word progressive to mean: "if things improved in any way that means it was progressive because it was progress and progress is good so it means it agrees with me because I'm good." Just like how Hitler was an unironic socialist but because they view him as the ultimate evil they can never admit they agreed on anything and he's the ultimate example of what being a conservative is.

No, conservativism is about "resisting rapid change" it basically says that you shouldn't rush into this willy nilly and take your time, to be cautious. That's why being physically conservative means to be frugal and not get carried away with spending our committing to new expenses, instead making small incremental changes over time, which is what puts them at odds with liberals who want to gush tax dollars towards welfare and social programs, many of which they must thought to yesterday.

It's entirely possible to be a left wing conservative as well as to be a liberal/radical right winger. In fact, most of what Anons advocate for here: "mass deportations, repelling the Hart Cellar and Civil Rights Acts, enacting segregation, ending women's suffrage, etc" are too radical and rapid paced to be considered conservative at all, even if it would be a return to tradition or past legislation.

It's incorrect to use conservative as synonymous with right wing, just as it's incorrect to use liberal as synonymous with left wing though it's possible to criticize conservativsm and liberalism for it's overarching tendencies despite where it falls in the right/left dichotomy.

This used to be common knowledge, but you (often liberal) leftists love your Orwellian tactics of rewriting history and the definition of words because when it's all laid bare your agenda and beliefs tend to be flawed and unpopular.

> Rather, the conservative embraces an attitude that is deeply suspicious of any attempt to remake society in the service of any ideology or doctrine, whether that doctrine is libertarian, socialist, or developed from some other source. They see history as being full of disastrous schemes that seemed like good ideas at the time. Human society is something rooted and organic; to try to prune and shape it according to the plans of an ideologue is to invite unforeseen disaster. Conservatism is more of a mindset than a doctrine. It is ad hoc by necessity. It is easier to say what it is not, than to define it. Russell Kirk's The Conservative Mind envisions a conservatism that is as hostile to the levelling wrought by the market economy as it is to the plans of socialists and social reformers.

See, conservatives aren't what you say that are, you're just playing semantics games again. What that are: is being opposed to any ideology or group that wants to massively remake society based on their beliefs or manifesto, instead being open to the idea of trying new things but wanting to roll them out in a measured and controlled manner so if any unintended downsides become apparent they can easily be reversed and you don't have to worry about innocents slipping through the cracks or getting caught in the crossfire. This obviously earns them the ire of crackpots and deceivers because they want to completely redo everything, silence any complaints by saying "there will be some growing pains just sit tight while it settles" then say: "no, it's too late now, you should've said something earlier it would be too much work to go back to the other way" followed by: "there was never another way, it was always like this and the other way is impossible. Anyone who says we used to do it that way is lying."

"The Right can't make great art" doesn't mean that only left-wing people can make great art. Apolitical or whatever else people can too. The point is that conservatives, and truly it's especially current American conservative Republicans, cannot. Like no one who explicitly and proudly identifies with the Republican Party is making great art.

In reality, you don't care about patronizing the arts. It's amazing what patronage can do the political bent of any group. Look at how the UFC fighters are some of the most publicly right-leaning athletes. The man that signs their paychecks is in deep with the GOP, so it behooves them to openly conform to American conservative platitudes (even the foreign fighters deliver muh Jesus speeches that boxers wouldn't).

Sign the fucking check, and maybe you'd get conservative art. But as soon as you see the hourly rates of even a Hollywood gaffer, you throw a tantrum. Which is why the DWs movies and other conservaslop look like shit. You balk at the market rates of professionals, hire the inexperienced and incompetent to do the job, and have to pretend it doesn't look like ass.
