You literally have nothing else to do. Go paint in the park you say? Getting your shit trudging to the park getting ticks and bugs of all sorts sweating to sit uncomfortably to paint is a use of hours. It all is unless you plan to be bedridden, and one day you will be so don't rush it. Earn while you are young as humanly possible. Bratty kids shouldn't be screaming to get out of doing anything they should be negotiating pay for effort as soon as they can talk. And they should never stop until nature forces them to. And stop fooling yourself to purchase so much junk it's everywhere and your car that is bleeding you dry just sits in a parking space, it is not your ego. Work to earn as much as you can while you can but live as frugal as possible so when you start slowing down around 40 you aren't trapped in so much debt you want to be non-existent. Go thresh wheat lest you die face down in the dust beside the road.

You're not going to like hearing this, but part of the reason is literally just that humans are naturally competitive about everything. If there was a new law that people only have to work 5 hours per week, someone is going to think, "Hmmm, all I have to do is work 6 hours while everyone else is working 5 hours and I could get a promotion and higher pay..." and the next person will notice them working 6 hours and start working 7 hours.
