Ron Paul just jumped the shark
My Grandfather, a Korean war vet who voted Trump 3 times, said 'I used to like Ron Paul but he lost me in '16 when he started shilling against President Trump's border wall.' At the time I thought that was over the top but now I see he was right

He is. He, his son, and faggie Massie got mad at Trump last year restarting his Trump 1.0 policies to bring industry back from overseas.

this is impossible, and ron's issue with trump's methods was and is that tariffs don't actually incentivize onshoring, all they do is (demonstrably) make things more expensive for the consumer
you can't onshore while also being the global currency supplier in a fiscal-dominant economy. It just simply doesn't work. Trade deficit is offset by currency flows because it allows us to export our inflation abroad.
All reducing the trade deficit does is suck in the inflation we worked so hard to export

Sending the jobs overseas and importing foreigners to work the jobs here is a death spiral for the nation.

No, America is not an idea. It's a nation and a nation is it's people. The idea of America can't survive without Americans. Pablo, Mohammad, Visajeet, and Chink Chong Wang hate America and want to loot it for various ethnic blood feuds they have with the British.

The next problem is to get the average person to realize that Canada is just as bad as an open borders threat as Mexico.

The average person doesn't know how bad it is in Canada and that jeets just fly there and walk in from the Northern Border since it Mexico has been the problem with how dysfunctional it is.

Deporting a jeet back to India doesn't work because they just fly back to Canada and walk right back in. A wall needs to be up there.

Well. Tariffs aren't great. There are other mechanisms to protect industry. Remember how prices for eggs went haywire for you guys when you culled all your hens? Well egg prices here in Canada never soared like for you guys. Why is that? I mean you guys are essentially 10x the population size. You could flood our markets and completely put our domestic hen producers out of business. But we see that having domestic egg producers is a good thing. If we had gone the other way, we'd have been subject to the price increases because your producers got whacked by disease. We'd have essentially been chained to your productive capacity.

That is the whole point of your tariffs no? To bring back certain productive capacity to the US and bolster your industry. So we do something that you guys also want to do. But that isn't how Trump deals with tariffs, surely you'd noticed this. Trump gets insanely pissed off because we currently refuse to shelve American liquor in our stores because he decides to blanket tariff us. Then threatens even further tariffs because his ego gets bruised. What to take from this? The guy doesn't care about bringing back domestic production for you guys. He simply wields them as an axe when he gets moody.
>>
>>540175446
I wouldn't call this one bait. Or if I would it is like good bait. Because what Paul is saying is good. The OP however tries to frame it as bad. This is meant to ellicit a reaction out of you to question the motives of the OP. It is good rhetoric.
>>
>That is the whole point of your tariffs no?
no
the tariffs are just his method of balancing the budget because he reduced government revenue from a bunch of other places (to pay off corpo donors, do favors, deregulate, etc.)
why would a company not just pass the costs along to the consumer and wait a year for courts to kill the majority of the tariffs, maybe three for a new admin to remove all of them (like has already and surely will happen)?
tariffs do absolutely nothing to incentivize companies to onshore, all they need to do is just build them into their cost model and jack up the price for the consumer and they're fine.
>>
>>540176452
>why would a company not just pass the costs along to the consumer and wait a year for courts to kill the majority of the tariffs, maybe three for a new admin to remove all of them

I do agree with you here as how it'll play out.

What I was trying to point out though is like we set up an instance where distributors can purchase a certain amount of products from you guys to be sold here in Canada. For lots of your industry you'd be able to drown out our own producers. Egg prices went crazy for you guys. It barely had an effect on us...
>>
>>540175433
Even you have to admit Trump's economics are batshit retarded. New tariffs on penguin Island coming soon.
>>
>>540176275
The eggs and poultry prices went haywire because of the mass culling the Biden admin was doing for fun and they started to import worm infected meat from Mexico and Brazil.

Tariffs on dairy/eggs are higher than ever but those items are way cheaper than they were under Biden.

It's cheaper to have production in the US than bring them overseas. Overseas items being cheaper requires outside forces (the government) shitting everything up on purpose to make it more desirable to source everything from outside the US. The only exception to that are mineral deposits like Titanium and Uranium.
>>
>>540174760
hes right. we should war with spics.
>>
>>540176275
>Remember how prices for eggs went haywire for you guys when you culled all your hens?
oh, I remember: it was a nice gift from the biden admin in its last days
which is no surprise, because leftists animals hate the people
as to tariffs, they're a good tool, if you do everything to replace the subsidized imported shit by locally manufactured products, so your people can flourish, by having enough to sustain a family
but Trump instead does shit for isrealis and jewtrannyans, and doesn't care much for Mutts, which only goes to show two things:
1) he's more leftist than anything else
2) his people are isrealis
sad, but such is life, in the clowny yuga
>>
>>540176637
No anon, they weren't just killing all their chickens for fun. Your egg prices went up because the actual animals making the eggs had to be killed. They are cheaper now because a whole bunch of new hens exist to make more eggs.
>>
>>540176588
No. His economic policies are just a more aggressive form of what he did during his first term and everybody is losing their mind about why Trump couldn't instantly bring us back to 2018/2019 pricing.

You're just going to have to wait the same amount of time for real things to be built and turned online. 2027/2028 is when real cheap prices for everything will be set in stone since we're literally just going off of vibes right now.

If you live in upper New England then you should start seeing electrical prices come down because 3-Mile Island is coming back online next year.
>>
>>540174939
So what? What's next, some gang from zimbabwe will hold the next president hostage and make the US build wakanda for them?
>>
>>540176583
>distributors can purchase a certain amount of products from you guys to be sold here in Canada. For lots of your industry you'd be able to drown out our own producers
yeah there is no domestic industry in the US so that's impossible, our economy would immediately collapse if we were forced to be self-sufficient
not from shortages, just from the fact that it would immediately cost $3,000/week to feed a family of three
>>540176637
>It's cheaper to have production in the US than bring them overseas
it's not when your economy operates on an ethos of total fiscal dominance that would require destruction of the petrodollar to change
americans are more expensive to employ, and if we didn't import, we would lose the ability to export our inflation which would immediately cause a nuclear explosion in the bond market, killing the US' ability to do anything financially
You can onshore in certain very limited sectors, but self-sufficiency is a hallucination for the US while the dollar exists
>>540176828
>2027/2028 is when real cheap prices for everything will be set in stone since we're literally just going off of vibes right now
nothing will ever be cheaper in the US again
you'd have to be smoking fucking crack if you think that anyone in control would voluntarily allow deflation to happen
>>
>>540176918
>we would lose the ability to export our inflation
inflation is only a problem if it's uncorrelated from actual wealth creation, or if working people don't benefit from said wealth creation
>>
>>540174760
The day /pol/ turns there back on ron Paul, an actual dude who wants to drain the swamp, its in the Epstein files for defence, and someone who actually lives by the quote: "They're not after me. They're after you. I'm just standing in the way." Is the day /pol/ truly dies
>>
>>540176918
>nothing will ever be cheaper in the US again
>you'd have to be smoking fucking crack if you think that anyone in control would voluntarily allow deflation to happen

Most everyday items are nearing pre-COVID prices now unless you live in shithole States raising fees and taxes to combat it while chasing out what little industry they have left.

If you live in a State friendly to industry, you're going to see economic improvements.
If you live in a State hostile to industry you're going to continue seeing your home become like Detroit.
California is only having their minimal industrial capacity saved by the Federal government taking their Oil industry, everything else still getting chased out East by Fagman Newsom and the commies that infest the State.
>>
>>540176918
>smoking fucking crack if you think that anyone in control would voluntarily allow deflation to happen

Something else that pisses me off about central banks in general. Your Fed is supposed to have a rolling average inflation. If you have periods of high inflation for a few years say like 5->7->10->4->2

They'll be like

>wow we're back to 2% inflation we won

And now in order to get back to the rolling target how many years must go on of low inflation to bring it back to where it is supposed to be? When in reality a period of deflation would clear markets and get it back to the inflation target on the long run.
>>
>>540177324
*sooner

But their fear is that it spirals out of control.
>>
>>540177029
>inflation is only a problem if it's uncorrelated from actual wealth creation
this doesn't make any sense
I'm assuming you're talking about the hypothetical IOUs in the equities market, which if that's the case then put down the crackpipe
"stocks" are not wealth, they have no real value because they're not a real thing, it's just hypothecation and gambling. If your solution to inflation is "well it's not a problem if you give your money to jews and let them do black magic so it keeps its value" then you need your understanding of economics checked because that's just a retarded version of MMT
>>540177155
>Most everyday items are nearing pre-COVID prices
no they're not
in order to do this, the CPI would have had to be negative for any amount of time, which it has not
>If you live in a State friendly to industry, you're going to see economic improvements.
the only meaningful capex going on in the US right now is AI datacenter capex which is just bubble spending. most other sectors are in a recession
>>540177324
Powell made it pretty clear over the last 2-3 years that the Fed has just completely given up on one half of its dual mandate and just cares about employment because we're in macroeconomic conditions where any action to tackle one would adversely affect the other.
>>
>>540177487
>Fed has just completely given up on one half of its dual mandate and just cares about employment because we're in macroeconomic conditions where any action to tackle one would adversely affect the other.

The concept itself doesn't really make any sense unfortunately. Because at least to me and my understanding. A big problem is because there are people who are employed that are not servicing actual demand. The solution would be to unfortunately unemploy large sectors of the work force such that they can find their ways into new positions fulfilling real demand. But obviously there are reasons people would be upset at that.
>>
>>540177487
>no they're not
They are. Actual ears of corn are less than a dollar. The last time they were like that was in the early 2000's.

The only thing still retarded is beef since I can get good cuts of meat for just as much as ground beef so might as well buy the fancy meat.

The biggest problem is shellfish since all of that is coming in from India rather than our shores. Trump signed EO's reverting Biden's EO's to shutdown our fishing industry since the only relatively cheap fish is Tilapia and that's farmed.
>>
>>540174760
you're a fucking retard if you think concerning ourselves with ourselves is less important than concerning ourselves with others.

>Actual ears of corn are less than a dollar

tell me where new car prices are at. how about computer parts? tickets for domestic transportation? rent, insurance, services, media, lumber?
>>540177715
>The concept itself doesn't really make any sense unfortunately. Because at least to me and my understanding. A big problem is because there are people who are employed that are not servicing actual demand.
the fed has a dual mandate: inflation at or below 2%, while maximizing employment
the US economy is so overwhelmingly fiscally dominant that unless companies are able to consistently "grow" and increase prices for goods and services, they are unable to service the massive amounts of debt they all have. The Fed can increase employment one of two ways: open market operations where they purchase assets to inject cash, and lowering the prime interest rate to make borrowing capital cheap for companies to accelerate growth. Both of these increase inflation
to reduce inflation, the fed can sell assets off its balance sheet, sucking up cash, or increase the prime rate, making borrowing more expensive; both of these operations increase unemployment because they tighten free cash flow and reduce growth
If inflation is higher than the target rate and unemployment is high, the options available to the Fed are mutually exclusive between effects and so you have to choose one to bite the bullet on
>fulfilling real demand
all demand is real demand, it just depends on who the consumer is. "a lot of people don't do anything" is an extremely myopic view of economics; the one exception to this rule is private equity and the CEO bad decision cartel.
>>
>>540178217
>myopic view of economics; the one exception to this rule is private equity and the CEO bad decision cartel.

I'm not myopic in general. Even what you're saying here is more my belief though. PE pushes workers to fulfill things that people don't want. Just think about data centers. Is the capex spend for them justified? Or did they just build a whole bunch of future empty warehouse parks that aren't needed. People were being employed to get these things running, but end up with no use for them... to me that is failing to meet demand and the employed labour shouldn't have been doing it. More of a macro idea. And just to say I'm no expert on any of this really. But I like to read and like to learn.
>>
>>540177487
>I'm assuming you're talking about the hypothetical IOUs in the equities market
I don't know why you would assume that, lol
why would I talk of _actual_ wealth creation, otherwise?
>"stocks" are not wealth
obviously
and sadly, the actual wealth creation (ie something new that people are willing to pay for, which both includes services and goods, but sure doesn't include the weimar tier fuckeries making most of the economy these days) is weakly correlated to stock valuations
and that's part of the problem I was talking about
the people who work at creating that wealth will still have to pay moar for everything, not only to reflect that actual wealth has been created, but also that jewish propaganda and baffling "accounting" has made stocks rise in the silliest and most disgusting ways, which does cause inflation, unrelated to actual wealth creation (like studios themselves buying seats by the gorillions for public panned movies, to play pretend to investors that it was a total success, or pretending we're a weekend away from agi and self driving cars)
which wouldn't so much be a problem if these people's wages were raising accordingly
but which is very much a probrem, since they aren't

and even more so since there also are hordes of disenfranchised people put out of work by so much shit being manufactured overseas, by retarded and accordingly cheap turd worlding monkeys
eg here, in the working age population that could work in the private sector, the real unemployment number is about 35%: and it's the only way to be honest about unemployment, really (and half of the remaining part are more or less directly working for "enterprises" propped up by the state, if not entirely working for said state, so I'm nice not to outright say the real private sector unemployment number is 50%, which it actually is)
at that stage, it's not even fuckeries anymore: it's purposeful sabotage
to the extent huge traitor gallows should have been built decades and decades ago
