>▶Michigan Primary Election General (MPEG)

The primary is August 4, 2026

Can El-Sayed beat AIPAC?

>▶ The Battle for the Party's Direction
The high-stakes U.S. Senate primary pits establishment moderate Representative Haley Stevens against progressive insurgent Dr. Abdul El-Sayed. The race is a direct proxy war between two factions:
* The Establishment Side: Haley Stevens has the backing of Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and Governor Gretchen Whitmer. Her platform focuses on pragmatism and economic stability.
* The Progressive Side: Abdul El-Sayed, backed by Bernie Sanders’s political network, is championing Medicare for All and systemic political change.

>▶ A Critical Litmus Test on Foreign Policy
The election acts as a major referendum on the Democratic base's rapidly shifting views on U.S. policy toward Israel and the war in Gaza. El-Sayed has heavily criticized the Israeli government and advocated for reinvesting taxpayer dollars domestically. Conversely, Stevens maintains a staunchly pro-Israel stance and is heavily backed by outside groups, including the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC).

>▶ Record-Breaking Outside Spending
The primary has become the most expensive Democratic congressional primary in U.S. history.

rogers seems like a generic republican, plus he got trumps endorsment, whatever thats worth.

trump only won michigan by like 1 percent, this is going to be a very close race and you can bet rogers is going to be flooded with aipac money

That's completely meaningless, Haley Stevens has had $60m in AIPAC money and is losing by 15 points in every poll in the last week. AIPAC money doesn't win elections any longer

the polls show rogers polls better against sayed while he is neck and neck with stevens.

as i said, trump won Michigan by one percent, there is a chance a republican could win this time

a general is very different from a primary
>>
>>540178695
She would win in South Carolina… it’s an aipac showdown for Lindsey ladybug’s seat. A contest on who is further up trumps butthole.
>>
>>540178878
>the polls show rogers polls better against sayed while he is neck and neck with stevens.
This is simply not true, there's tons of polls that show AES even or slightly ahead. Stevens is absolutely not electable.

Even Rogers has already shifted to making attack ads against AES because Stevens is so unbelievably cooked
>>
>>540176861
Why would someone vote for a muslim that want's to get rid of the constitution and human rights altogether and take everything from you.
>>
>>540179005
He's one of the only senate primary candidates who doesn't take corporate or PAC donations. If only every candidate did this then American politics might not be so fucked
>>
>>540178552
The problem is that Democratic primaries are openly rigged. The biggest choke point for a populist candidate is the primary for a Democrat. Republicans have fairer primaries but they have the Evangelical boomer problem dragging down populist Republicans. So there will not be anti-AIPAC candidates who can ever be fully populist until the boomer establishment retires in the Democratic Party and enough old voters die in the Republican Party.
>>
>>540179005
How is that different from aipac and Jews? Same exact shit
>>
>>540179080
>The problem is that Democratic primaries are openly rigged.
If AES wins today, we can say for certain that some are not rigged. Every establishment Dem desperately wants him to lose and to get their preferred AIPAC cheerleader bot selected instead.

There's poll showing either candidate as a viable option, wait until the primary is over and they start campaigning properly, then we see who has the lead. Rogers seems unbelievably generic and loves his AI slop political ads (which should be illegal) and accusing AES of being a communist. Seems like a super braindead strategy, but maybe boomers go for that

It's probably the most important election in the past few years. AIPAC has dumped $60m into this race to defeat a Democratic Socialist. It's the most money ever spent in a primary, ever. If they lose this race, it means AIPAC's reputation as kingmaker is mud and Israel spending big to buy senators doesn't work. The precedent this sets is huge. If you want Israel to stop interfering in American elections, Stevens has to lose, and so does Rogers.
>>
>>540179447
>unironically bitching about charisma when Muslim shitskins are winning elections
Pathetic. This country is sooooo fucked. You all have no idea, you’ll be begging for a return to maga retards.

AES is an Oxford educated PhD. He might be the most educated person to step into the Senate chamber if he gets elected. His racial background is about the least interesting thing about him. Do you not care that he doesn't accept AIPAC or corporate money?
>>
>>540179972
>bitching about charisma
Stevens is actually shockingly uncharismatic for a politician. Bootygig moved to Michigan in early 2025 specifically for that Senate seat but the Jews forced him out of the race when Sayed entered because they didn't think a homo could win so Stevens ended up being the 11th hour pick
>>
>>540180606
Buttjej is an excellent public speaker, near Obama level, pity he didn't just stay in the closet like Republicans do, he'd probably be president in 2028.
>>
>>540180731
He has a husband though. He can't hide that, unlike an unmarried man like Graham (though he did a bad job of hiding he was a homo).
>>
>>540179173
They rigged an election for University of Michigan Trustee 2 years ago. An Arab woman was running against an old Jewish Zionist. Rigged as fuck even though it was possible to win against her in a close race because the Arab woman was crazier. She got the Bernie Sander's treatment. Sad because both she and the Republican who won his primary were both pro free speech on campus. Too bad not enough Republican voters care to vote for who is running for university trustee. So now there is an anti free speech Zionist shitlib on the board. She was the worst possible choice.

Michigan local politics wonk here. It's surprising how fierce the internal revolution inside the DNC really is.

You are correct about it being a battle between the old union crowd and the new socialist/anarchist crowd. Around here, it's been so bad that I've seen (on the council level), one dem organizing a protest against another dem, someone they sit next to on council.

The real problem (in my opinion) is that the democrats spent so much time weaponizing their youth to use as fodder against the republicans, that it never dawned on them that the monster would turn on its creator.

The older generation of democrats know that the young crowd will cost them a decades worth of lost elections. They also know that if the younger crowd got its (policy) way, they would destroy the country (some accidently, some intentionally).

But to the young crowd, who were raised on bullshit ideas like 'everyone's opinion is valid' and 'if you feel something, you're always right'; they feel cheated, as though they are being denied something they are owed (and yes, they feel they are owed power)

The split was building for years, but cracked especially hard after the summer of love; when the older crowd agreed to cede some limited power to certain focus groups; who responded by spitting in the faces of those who gave them the power

don't be silly, everyone knows they would. The young democratic socialist have no practical life skills, no political skills, no fidelity to the United States, and no plan other than to eat the rich.

But once they run out of rich people they will starve, as both New York and California are about to find out

Would be voting for serious candidates in the Republican primary if I didn't plan on voting in the Democrat primary for 3 candidates I strongly give a shit about. I usually avoid the Democrat primaries ever since they had super delegates. We are about to find out if they stopped rigging so hard or if it is a trick to keep swing voters out of voting in the only fair primary.
>>
>>540181454
the real thing going on here is generational turn over. The boomers who grew up during the cold war are dying off, the millennials who grew up post 9/11, post 2008 ressesion are rising to power on both sides of the aisle, the future of politics is hyper online millennials like vance, mamdani, buttgig, aoc, sayed

the democrats being taken over was always going to happen but it took longer than the republicans being taken by maga
>>
>>540182568
You're not wrong, but I think there is more to that. When you factor in stuff such as:
> declining value of public education
> the elimination of civics and nationalism in the schools
> teaching kids that all ideas are equally valid
> teaching kids that their feelings are more important than other people's rights

... you create the situation we have now.

Yes, there is (as there should be) a generational turnover. But the real problem is that there are so very few of the younger generation who are capable of taking over, are capable of properly leading a state/country; whose ideas are so wrong that they would destroy what's left of the country.

Mind you... this has been going on for at least a few generations. 40 years ago, people like Trump, AOC and even Stevens would have bene laughed out of the room. The days of the political giant is all but dead. Not by murder but by suicide.

>>540183369
The short answer is that the Michigan GOP has been a mess for decades; rudderless, with infighting and a long steam of ineffective candidates and political consultants who never learned how to win elections.

If you're a republican, the party is ripe for a takeover. I thought about doing it myself years ago, but it got to the point where I no longer thought it was worth the effort.

>>540183201
They're going to have a hard time in the general. Michigan elections almost always come down to turnout in Wayne County; and there are reasons why you'd expect turnout to be low this November
>>
>>540182227
You seemed to be implying it
