The center of the self, soul, is not a discrete spirit; it is something subtler and less conditioned, which then takes on a spirit in the process of creation, however you want to describe the metaphysics, which then takes on a body. In contrast to the soul, which varies from unchangeable to gradually changed through reincarnation depending on worldview, and in contrast to the body which is obviously highly changeable, the spirit is intermediate; a person's spirit might be altered, sometimes dramatically, through adoption into say Christianity or communism. Has not the bugman had a change of spirit from his presumably innocent childhood? Likewise, a weak or diseased person might be under the influence of multiple competing spirits, resulting in discord. It's important also to say that evola did not care at all about how these "spirits" were mediated, that is to say how or if they were "real" in the common sense of the word.
