Jill Tokuda was arrested Saturday after a violent altercation at Keawakapu Beach in South Kihei.A candidate for the U.S. parliament, originally from Ukraine, pulled out a knife on the beach in response to a request to turn down the music.Kirill Basin, a representative of the Democratic Party of the United States, is from Ukraine, and was supposed to run in the upcoming elections to the House of Representatives (the lower house of parliament, the equivalent of the State Duma).But the arrest may prevent participation in the elections: during a vacation in Hawaii, Basin threatened someone else's family with a knife.
