If they can even get up to 5th gen tech level of indigenous builds at actually relevant production levels that would be a massive deal. They seem decades away from doing that, they don’t even have a 5th gen “in progress” like gcap that is going to have to get title promoted to “6th gen” to not be obviously dated next to US and Chinese designs by the time it’s actually out in 5+ years. They don’t even have that. Making new 4th gen fighters would put them on the level of France or Sweden… this would not actually be that bad vs most countries on earth not being able to make a fighter period. But no they cannot even manage that.
