Eventually, I got a break and moved into more server and network admin and less desktop. After a while, it was all networking and I stopped even touching servers. I'm so fucking old, I was around for the Y2k shit. The trick is to always try for a harder job than you have currently. Throw yourself in the deep water. Again and again. Take those overnight gigs. Take those travelling gigs. Put in the work. Attach yourself to the best people at it that will put up with you and absorb. ALL of the knowledge is out there, for free. You can take AWS cloud courses. Google cloud courses, etc for free. Cisco also has free labs on line. Just fucking grind. Study and grind. It will cost you in the way of social life and partying.
