So the tariffs were just wealth transfer.
>>
>>540253882
Yes.
The whole history since 1971 has been the haves hoarding as much as possible in hopes that they get to keep it after the reset.

Go do something about it
>>
>>540253882
stop voting for republicans and right wing democrats and the wealth will be transferred in reverse for the first time in American history
>>

Not really. More taxes for shit you'll never qualify for? That aint a win-win.

>>540254086
This. Remember how great things were under biden?
>>
>>540253882
Yes, but not in the way that post suggests. It's how Trump wanted to offset his tax cuts so that all of us have to pay more, while he gets to keep his money. Not that he ever paid taxes anyway.

In the end, yes.

The guy who wrote the tariff plans genuinely planned them as a way to reorganize global trade and onshore American industry, but Trump did what he always does and instinctively served the donors and big business.

He is the most transparently billionaires’ socialist President in history. He is everything Spengler condemned the English for. Worse, actually. Spengler said when the Englishman speaks of national wealth, he means the number of millionaires in the country, but when Trump speaks of national wealth he means the wealth of a handful of his golfing buddies.

He is going to go down as the symbol of America decline, literally a Nero or Elagabulus figure.

Voting matters. Voting is why we're where we are. If fewer people in fewer states had voted for Trump, we wouldn't be where we are. Granted, we'd be in a shitty place still, since Kamala is just another bog standard corporate democrat, but we wouldn't be here, exactly.

The only interesting counterfactual is whether or not a Kamala regime would have spurred the rise of the DSA so dramatically. Maybe, maybe not.

Either way, America has been a lot like this for a long time. It's just that Trump's utter incapacity for shame and discretion make it more noticeable. We already largely operate as a socialist country, just in a two-tiered system. What we have is socialism for the rich and brutal capitalism for the poor.

Let's give socialism to the poor for once, yeah?

It was also shit under Trump before him. Before Trump, it was shit under Obama. Bush, Clinton, Bush Sr., Reagan, and on and on and on -- life has been shit to the poor in this country since its inception, when our posh British forefathers decided only rich people should be able to vote in the first place.

This country had some groundbreaking ideas, but it corrupted them literally as soon as it could. From the very beginning, even before you consider the disgusting moral stain of slavery, we encoded two classes in this country. We have never once been truly egalitarian in any real way.

But voting? That works. Your vote is massively diluted by the money of rich people who buy social and traditional media platforms to manipulate grugs and company men. But you can cast a vote and it's going to be fucking counted. El-Sayed just beat Haley Stevens in the most expensive primary in American history. The ONLY possible way that works -- and the ONLY possible reason AIPAC spent money instead of rigging it -- is because voting is a real thing.

>Capitalism isn't the problem, it's evil people.
People often talk about collectivism and individualism being the most important axes in economic ideology. I disagree. I see it in terms of democracy versus autocracy. Capitalism is an economically autocratic system. If we hold that autocracy is, loosely speaking, evil... yeah, it's not an accident that evil people thrive under this system.

Capitalism is, in a sense, an experiment in letting evil people compete in a non-political environment. The world dealt with millennia of evil people in politics making terrible decisions. In the best case scenario, capitalism gives those people a putatively less-harmful avenue in which they can say things like "it's just business" and "greed is good" without killing anyone. Capitalism under this model is primarily a harm-reduction method in the scope of broader human society.

Obviously, it's failed. Capitalism kills people as surely as wars do. In a way, it's even more pernicious because it provides a layer of indirection. It makes it easier to condition people into thinking it's "just the way things are" because it takes a couple minor feats of abstraction to consider the system itself. Unfortunately, most people don't seem to be capable of this. That's why we have identity politics: everyone is furious at the way things are, but capitalism has become such a textural facet of reality to most people that they can't even identify whose dick is fucking them.

>So the tariffs were just wealth transfer.
Yes and no.

Tariffs are in fact 110% paid by the foreign producer, because they are TAXES that also reduce the tax-burdern on consumer's OTHER taxes....

so you got 1/2 of the tariff paid by foreigner's "excess profits" (profits which he'll forgo and still do the business) and the other half is just Consumer paying same tax collected in different way.

Let me explain: If I take $10 from one of my pockets and put it in another, and take $10 from your pocket and put it in mine, what is the net of that transaction?

Answer: I net $10 and you lost $10.

However, yes, everything Trump and GOP and DNC does "economically" is always "we're doing a big change, but don't worry, the Markets will make it all even out, after a while" but there is always another one before it "evens out", so yes it is just a grift the way Trump is doing it.

Trump has ruined tariffs for the next 30 years. No one is going to build a factory in USA because "tariffs make it make sense", because for tariffs to work they must be predictable, not just Trump's grift of the week.

Now all of Congress is into the Trump Tariff Grift, and Trump will be gone soon but AOC and at least 1/2 of current Congress will be in office for next 30yrs min.

>>540258232

>>540258232
>Tariffs are in fact 110% paid by the foreign producer, because they are TAXES that also reduce the tax-burdern on consumer's OTHER taxes....
For the sake of accuracy, multiple studies have found that the cost of tariffs passed through to consumers at an average above 90%. So this anon is either lying to you or somehow still clueless as to how tariffs actually work.
>>
>>540257652
>Knew this was gonna happen
Before the election everyone thought Roe would never get overturned. Trump has a way of getting what he wants from the courts. I thought tariffs wouldn't be any different.
>>
>>540258232
>Trump has ruined tariffs for the next 30 years. No one is going to build a factory in USA because "tariffs make it make sense", because for tariffs to work they must be predictable, not just Trump's grift of the week.
Nope for tariffs to work they must stick. If Trump creates a tariff through EO then a factory owner just knows to wait it out 4 years and the next guy will undo if. If they pass a law the proper way creating a tariff then now that isn't a guarantee anymore and that factory owner has to seriously consider building in America now.

A lot of what Trump is doing is in theory good but a lot of it will be undone the moment the next guy right or left takes power. Republicans could pass all this but stopping the filibuster and it would probably win them the midterms and do a lot of good erasing the fear that it could bite them in the ass but they won't because we are in a uniparty and Trump is doing the minimum that won't even stick to pretend like he is doing something.

>>540258308
Capitalism isn't "the exchange of things." It is the privatization of wealth. In its purest form, it's the RUNAWAY privatization of wealth.

More than that, it's a system of political thought. Its core combination of ideas is that efficiency is good and that everything has a monetary value. Political power, religious power, social power, sexual power -- capitalism assigns a dollar amount to all of these things and attempts to optimize it for the most efficient generation of privatized currency.

Efficiency, of course, is just the surface. Efficiency of what? is one question, but the better question is probably the efficiency FOR WHOM. Capitalism is silent on this question. It makes no guarantees that efficiency will be optimized for anything more than the use of resources and their conversion to currency.

Naturally, capitalists answer this question themselves: whose efficiency is important? Theirs.
>>
>>540255780
Also, you can't just put 25 or 50% tariffs overnight because some country refused to be deep throated. Doing so proves nothing other than Trump being the dumbest retard of all time.
The UK tariff is a huge three volume set with very thin pages and minuscule typeface. It is carefully balanced and has rates of duty of the kind that exist in most 'sane' countries. It isn't altered at 3am via Twitter in a rage caused by early stage dementia.
>>
>>540258478
oh yea and this is why he doesn't give a shit if he loses the midterms because no one is passing anything significant so this is a non issues to him. The other, whipped cattle, driven to the slughterhouse by the corporations convinces they were on the hook for Walshart's profit margins. Both standing around with open palms and blank stares demanding money like the niggers they are.

Tariffs were never some pure national revival tool. They are a controlled release valve. The same networks that spent decades engineering free-trade orthodoxy, open borders, offshoring, and the deliberate gutting of the White industrial base now tolerate selective tariffs when it suits their extraction cycle.
What actually happened: production was shipped out, capital was concentrated in finance and tech hubs under their influence, the native working class was atomized and demoralized, and then periodic “tariff theater” gets staged so the public can feel something is being done. Revenue gets collected, certain protected sectors get temporary rents, prices get passed to the consumer, and the underlying demographic and ownership structure remains untouched. Wealth moves from the remaining productive White population into the administrative state and the connected intermediaries. That is the transfer.
Free trade was the primary instrument of civilizational sabotage for a reason. It accelerated the replacement of the historic American nation with a consumer colony and a cheap-labor plantation while the commanding heights of finance, media, academia, and policy stayed in the same hands. Tariffs without simultaneous expulsion of the hostile elite and the demographic invaders are just a tax reshuffle. They do not reverse the ownership of the Federal Reserve, the major banks, Hollywood, the Ivy League, or the NGO complex. They do not stop the continuous importation of non-White labor that undercuts any wage gains the tariffs might produce.
Race war is the logical endpoint because the people who designed the open system and the people who manage the tariff “corrections” are the same group. They will never voluntarily cede the leverage that lets them decide when the pressure valve opens and when it closes. Anything short of removing that group from power and presence is cope dressed up as policy.
>>

Very true. You have to make the judgment yourself. Is it better that many suffer so few can live in obscene opulence? Or is it better that the opulence of the few is diminished such that fewer people suffer?

It's not complicated, but you're right, there's no in-built moral judgment. You have to do that part yourself.
>>
>>540253882
Wow, look at those numbers. I wonder why the economy is shit.
>we refuse to pay people to make the goods we sell to them
>>
>>540258895
Those rates are probably between 2% and 7%. I am not familiar with most other EU nations individual tariffs, but that is generally the rates that operate across Eurozone countries.
This is a matter for sober people who realize that throwing new tariffs round like confetti is the act of someone who doesn't understand anything about how many businesses operate.
This is why customs warehousing and inward/outward processing exemptions apply. Idiots like Trump have no conception of this and wont listen to anyone who could explain it. He just thinks it's money to grab and that if I do A then B will just happen. He is almost as dumb as leftists that seem to think that factories just occur in nature and don't require capital.

Tariffs are the norm everywhere.
You too have no conception of how businesses and trade works and see the world like a 13 year old girl.
>>
>>540260281
The USD is weakening because the supreme court struck down the tariffs. Raising interest rates and tariffs would have and were (momentarily) strengthening the dollar and reducing the deficit for the first time in over a decade.

What that anon said was true, the same applies to the Birthright Citizenship ruling and numerous other horrible rulings by the Supreme Court. I always find it hilarious when leftist trannies say the right controls the SCOTUS when they have consistently ruled against right leaning policies and austerity.

There is no right wing in the United States.

Which is why I wanted to make more money with tariffs. If you're spending too much increasing your revenue is a good solution. I want military spending to go down as well, but I don't want world war III or mass global destabilization caused by it. China is being aggressive in the south China seas, Russia's being a douche in Europe and admittedly the Iran thing was our fuck up. We have a lot of need of military equipment making reduced spending infeasible in the moment.

I've gone over this before with Econ Profs.

Show me a study where they take the tax collected from tariffs and subtract it from other taxes paid by the consumer. OK, "realistically" its basically true "they will just find new shit to waste tax money on" but economically that isn't an argument.

The only thing Austrians will say about tariffs is "govt spending always hurts and free market best" which is a generic anti-tax argument, not about "where in economy is best to tax".

Colleges in The West are really no diff from the also Jew run colleges of the USSR.

The religion is "globalism" and everything must be bent to serve that.

Econ Profs pretending the tariffs don't offset other taxes is just like how they pretend Niggers aren't a problem.

This is why Econ Profs have to be given "faculty housing" complete with all utilities fully paid. The only step left is to literally water them like house plants.

Of course tariffs come from foreign producer, not consumer, because otherwise you wouldn't see "retaliatory tariffs" and and targets of tariffs screaming in protest.

If a product can be tariffed, that means the foreign producer has some baked-in advantage than can be taxed.

tariffs are mostly about WTF you COULD produce

but its true that if coffee is cheap but for some reason sold at high price in USA, maybe because importers have a lock on production, coffee could be tariffed and importers would have no choice but to take loss on profits, because people are already at the point of choosing tea instead due to price point.

No shit. So isn’t supplying aid to Israel just so they can turn around and buy arms from us making the arms suppliers wealthier still. It’s time the rich pay their fair share of taxes, even if living off the interest is their primary income. Flat rate taxes for all earning over $40k annually. The President gets a congressional budget from which he can decorate. All financial matters drawing from the taxpayers money are to be approved by congress.

Tariffs: they are the burden importer’s pay to make money selling a cheaper product. That burden is then passed onto the consumer in the form of inflated prices. The importer is basically double dipping by charging higher prices as well as expecting their share of the tariffs collected. The tariffs were meant to rebuild the infrastructure needed so that we wouldn’t be so reliant on foreign trade, not as a bonus to those who have already been compensated by the consumer through inflated prices.

Actually it’s not private ownership by individuals that the socialists are attacking so much as institutional monopolies seeking to control ownership of homes built for individual citizens to invest in. They want to stop big corporations from scooping up the available housing supply so that they are forced to rent instead. It was Trump himself that said he wanted to make home ownership more valuable and less affordable to those who can’t afford those homes. Socialists want to increase the tax burden on those hoarding homes to offset the cost of housing for those who have been forced out of the market by higher prices to discourage home hoarding as well as making more properties available. Seems reasonable.

Tariffs are actually designed to discourage the importers from flooding our markets with cheap foreign made goods that undercut domestic pricing. The exporters do not pay the tariffs. Buying less (reduced demand) occurs because the individual importer now has to consider the additional burden of tariffs. Instead of buying $100 of widgets, I now buy $75 plus pay $25 in tariffs, thus, a reduction of foreign widgets competing with local suppliers.

However, as an importer/ business man, I’ll just raise the price of my imported widgets because well, the Tariffs. You understand, right? Cost me more, I gotta pass those costs on to you, the consumer, to stay in business.

Here’s the thing. My supplier overseas has probably offered to renegotiate (for a limited time) his price of widgets, drop them another 10%. Make a few changes in quality, amounts per package, little things no one will be overly concerned about. So now the importer is burdened a little less as both tariffs are less as well as the cost to acquire that imported widgets. So, does he lower his prices to remain viable, help the consumer out? Fuck no, they still sell at inflated prices (fucking tariffs man, out of my control).

Then they apply for their fair share of the tariffs to compensate for their losses. Sucks to be you, consumers.

Obviously the current situation isn’t working out so well. I think the whole point of socialism is to stop feeding money to the rich and start taking better care of the people that make it all possible for the wealthy to actually exist.

You’re rich because you sell me a phone. You invest millions to make sure I believe I need your phone. You’ve engineered my phone to become obsolete every few years so must buy another phone. This cycle will last decades will millions of consumers paying ever increasing prices. At some point many of those customers will have to decide whether to remain in the cycle but sacrifice other needs or move on to accept an inferior product. You’ve become incredibly wealthy while they are just getting by. Your greed is limitless while they find themselves no longer able to feed you or themselves.

This is where socialism come into play. Basically, the more wealth you acquire, the more of your wealth would be redistributed through taxation toward those who made you wealthy in the first place. Yes, you’d still be able to acquire limitless wealth but now you’d be required to contribute to those making this wealth possible through paying your fair share of the taxes rather than relying on loopholes available to the wealthy to avoid taxation. A flat rate tax would cover that. No exemptions.

gonna take a lot of trimming the fat from the "left-wing" democratic party and ejecting the ones simping for and/or directly bought by billionaires aipac etc, this whole DSA revolution thing from within is a great start but the only thing dems have ever been good at is defending the status quo against both regressives (right-wingers) trying to drag us back into the dark ages AND progressives trying to make life better

This will sound schizo, but I actually think the key to undoing everything is to fight for disclosure. I think the Deep State has been sitting on secrets for 80-plus years, and they stir up divisiveness and shit just to keep their secrets from the public. They want everyone divided and in the weeds.

Don't care, still voting Republican in the midterms and Trump 2028
You lost, tranny!
>>
>>540265593
The point was that the Republicans couldn’t keep on banking the tariffs but rather release them to compensate those suffering the greatest losses. Those same companies applying for compensation are seeing record growth (despite inflated prices to cover the cost of importing stock), yet everyone of them are crying poor mouth because they paid an additional amount for foreign goods. They already inflated costs to cover the tariffs already. The money should either go into new production infrastructure to decrease reliance in imported goods or it should go to the consumer funding this boondoggle.

What is frustrating is that no one seems to care about how these corporations abuse the American tax payer and when asked to take a small hit they refuse when they are already making hand over fist. Take Nike for example selling $135 sneakers that cost them barely anything to make making record profits and all clothing companies are like this. There is no way you can tell me that we can't make sneakers in this country that go for like $100 maybe even less and give people a livable wage. We are past the "people won't pay for this shit if it's made in America" point because these kikes are so greedy it has been priced past that even with the cheap labor and production costs. When Nike ups that to $200 an average sneakers are we still going to pretend we can't make these in America?

I didn't concede shit.
>By giving that money to defense contractors
You mean like Biden? We're buying weapons to supply the Ukrainians and Israelis. We're buying a fuck ton so they'll win their wars. Why we need to pay for everyone's defense is another matter, but that shits bipartisan.
>Biden/KAMALA
Kamala wasn't president being the vice president means nothing. You don't have that many powers. How Biden ran things is no indication how Kamala would run things. That's just being retarded.

not all tariffs are the same
in the supreme court ruling that said trump had to do refunds, it also clarified which types of tariffs he could do and no judge could ever strike down
so trump immediately put hose tariffs in place
which is why the shills will only post refund receipts and not tariff receipts, because the latter dwarfs the former several times over

They were ostensibly because trade deficits, then we began importing a ton of shit from all over (Malaysia, Vietnam, Korea, China, Mexico, etc.) to build data centers, increasing the trade deficit. The tariffs are actually just a sales tax on US consumers.

Why don't you just start your own business? You know why? Because you don't have an idea that anyone finds valuable. You will always be a servant because that's what you deserve to be. Servants are born servants and masters are born masters. Throw any of those billionaires into a 3rd world country and they'll become a billionaire again. You were born with the winning lottery ticket of being born in the United States, the land of unlimited capitalistic opportunity and you squandered it posting on 4chan.

The original claim from the onset was that it would juice the dollar relative to the tariffed countries and that it would take years for that effect to work. I think we're far enough along to say that was bullshit, but the guy that wrote this bullshit and the assholes that keep pushing it won't be held accountable because you never read them and didn't even know this document existed.

>tariffs were
Tariffs are still in place. Only Trump's use of IEEPA as the legal pathway for tariffs was struck down. That affected only a portion of the tariffs and they were immediately switched to other legal avenues as that ruling was expected.

No, it will be transferred from middle class White men to niggers and shitskins and wahmyns. And they will transfer a lot more shitskins into the country in order to create future leftist voters. No thanks. Trump is a faggot but he will always be better than leftists who want to "eradicate whiteness." Modern leftism is an invention of the kikes designed to trick idiots into giving jews authoritarian power.
