This is truly the most american thing ever.
You better hope the bubble never pops.

it's kinda strange they bite the hand that feeds them. what server rack needs gskill amd expo ram? it's more like boomers are scared of goyim hosting their own stuff. they like to play little tricks like this of making things just 1 grand unaffordable, because their scam society is already centered around making sure you are squeezed to the brim.
>>
>>540298373
China is to fill the market while the elites gobble up all the good ram. China being able to supply cheap ram was no accident. its on purpose.

I actually approve of this. This will make shittier hardware more attractive which in turn provides an incentive to make better, more efficient programs and operating systems again.
>>

where will you source the components? can you afford to commit in long term bulk deal?
>>

It's already being used in major producer modules. It's the same thing and every module is tested before going out. Koreans are releasing fake news that Apple isn't going to get a discount (there's no actual source on that news, just shit to prop up SK's stock market).

Still pissed I only bought 32GB of DDR5 mid last year. It'll be at least another year until Uncle Chang fucks this cartel into the ground.

Why are we not focusing the AI on figuring out how to improve the power grid to give the populace something to have good feelings about AI while it turns everything to shit? The dot com bubble at least put cables in the ground to serve people the internet, all AI is doing is doubling the electric bill.

Moron, Windows is getting worse because they turned all native software into an unholy combo of .net, web assembly and webpages displayed in embedded web browser viewports. In 2016 software was developed almost directly on top of the elementary system libraries, now it's built on top of a dozen of frameworks.

There is only cheap and overprices RAM, i was telling you here since shit started
RAM shortages cannot happen
EVER
Simplest chips to make, simples than HDD production, only on par with it is NVME produiction but even that has more tech behind it cause its prolonged storage
Its easier to believe that PSU or computer case shortage happen then to have organic RAM shortage.
Impossible

Clock speed and latency matters quite a bit. Besides that, how much more will you spend in 5 yrs after shitty ram goes bad twice? I've had to repair computers for most my life and more often than not after basic power cycle removing a dead stick gets me to boot.
>>
>>540300509
They aren't freeing demand and they aren't crushing the global ram mafia either. That's what's incompatible.

cloud gaming is pretty good, i have not personally tried it but i have friends who have (they aren't gamers / PC builders and were curious).

i have my gaming rig set up with Parsec to play it remotely or on my Macs and the latency is pretty much imperceptible for the most part on LAN. I even tried it overseas in Thailand and it was definitely playable, I'd say 200ms of latency which didn't feel bad.

now I'm not playing twitchy FPS games but still MMOs or other games that would be annoying with noticeable delay. on LAN streaming I was playing PoE at 4k and completely forgot it wasn't running on my client PC.

You are braindead if you think "the market decides" for big industry, bigtech is the same as state tech, the separation of the state from corporations is just dust in the eyes of the golems to distract them and to think of them separate when in fact the state and the corpos are one of the same thing.

when the first specialized hardware chips are made, that compute this stuff in actual hardware mode, in a fraction of the time, with a fraction of the power consumption, all of these data centers are gonna be useless. a chip doesn't have to compute 1s and 0s you know. imagine feeding each pixel information of a picture through a hardware chip that always recognizes faces by simply letting the information cascade down inside a chip that only does that, simplified it's like putting sand through a sieve, you can always filter the rocks out, instead of manually doing it yourself by picking up each grain of sand (instead of the rocks). this is what's being developed and researched right now, and it's gonna make all of these data centers look like manual labor picking up grains of sand when sieves exist.

If you have any interest in overclocking your RAM and tuning the timings, then 64gb is easier to work with than 128gb, even if you're still using two sticks at 128gb. It's pretty hard to use more than 64gb anyways, so 128gb is just overkill for the time being.

Okay what's the point in pushing AI shit for the consumer if the consumer can't even buy what used to be normal priced personal computing devices? Even if you push for the "everything in the cloud" garbage, people wouldn't want to settle for a new smartphone with less RAM and next to no storage for the hyper giga pixel camera pics than one of their much earlier models but for more money.
So that just leaves us with two possibilities: all this AI hype is fake and gay full stop. Or the AI hype is fake and gay manufactured fed propaganda and the actual AI capacities are meant for total real time surveillance of every goy and there was never meant to be significant, life enhancing AI usage for the average person.

I played Death Stranding for 200 hours because I got too bored not being able to afford RAM. Bros this game, if you are a specific kind of person (not sure what that is just try the game and see) will be life changing for you. Its not really a Walking Simulator, its a building sim where your buildings make a big difference in the world and not just for you but other real people, resource management sim, with great action, adventure, floating around, tons of weapons and gadgets, a science fiction game, with one of the best stories of all time, its like the famous MGS2 codec meme speech but the entire game. The ending except for the retarded walking sim part might be my favorite ending of all time in a game, there is an image I won't spoil but you will probably cry a lot.

Its got Kojima "acid trip" but if you think about it the plot is extremely understandable and they even go to extreme lengths to ensure even the dumbest man could figure it out.

I heard the sequel is even better and buying it.

TL:DR don't care about RAM just play some old classics like Death Stranding and just find happiness in what you have.

The main reason I care about this is because I want more VRAM to run local models. However, local models are garbage compared to the frontier models that we can basically use for free, so what is the point? Even if everything were at the old prices it would still cost thousands to build a PC that can do anything useful. You can just pay $20 a month and get access to the tools that would cost tens of thousands of dollars to try to replicate with your own hardware. IMO it's better that the big companies get the RAM and keep letting us use their models at their expense. It's their loss.

It will do to white collar work what the steam engine did to agriculture and what robots did to manufacturing. The end goal of AI is to completely automate all administrative, clerical, engineering and research tasks to make western economies competitive against China and arguably India.

Automating low tier clerical tasks is just the proof of concept for eventually automating people with careers in law, sales, programming and engineering whose salaries make their firms less competitive than a Chinese competitor who pays their white collar workers pennies.

The issue is the "made in China" problem. China previously had diplomatic ties to the west, and giving them some money but mostly Taiwan was not an issue for western sovereignty. Now it's a problem, because we can't know that Taiwan stays on our turf for the foreseeable future, and if it doesn't, we'd be China's bitch forevermore just to make our computers, and constantly supply them the wealth they'll use to overthrow us with military spending and buying out our own wealth-generators.

That is why IMHO the Datacenter push is happening. We're hoarding socialized (aka, money goes to government NOT individuals) RAM quickly, to build something kind of sustainable for ourselves, and we have to ensure in that process that the rest of us, who normally buy computer parts anywhere we like, are no longer feeding China through our free use of cash, because that is now a direct threat to our own sovereignty.

It fucking sucks, but I do believe there's more to this than just "Jeff Bezos is a fucking asshole". He is, but he, Huang and all the other guys are literally just being subsidized by governments, and working for a national defense strategy since years ago.

why wont they
I really cant stress enough how easy and cheap is to massproduce RAM chips
Production is RAM is like production of cookies, there is nothing complicated to it, tech just shrinks its same DDR tech
Every country can make RAM factory now with this prices, and since China is on it, there is no need for it
RAM shortages cannot exist

Indeed.
ASML is the dutch company that makes machinery for the BEST chips made in Taiwan & Korea.

USA banned ASML sales to China.
But China R&D is already reverse engineering it.
China already made similar chip machinery that just didnt took off yet due to poorer quality.
But I bet than China is just a few years away to be able to make better chip machinery than ASML and better chips than Taiwan, at cheaper price.

The memory chips on those ram sticks is whats being sold out. These big AI and data centers are buying so much server and enterprise RAM that the availability of those memory modules for your consumer market is not available. The companies that make ram don't want to prioritize it because the demand is so high for the more expensive server ram

Literal WW3 can still happen without any nukes flying, simply if:
USA puts a lot of boots on ground on Iran while China invades Taiwan.
Or if USA leaves NATO while Russia attacks Poland, and France+UK chicken-out.

Also if India nukes Pakistan, Russia nukes Ukraine or Kimmy best Korea nukes K-pop worst Korea it would be just regional conflict that would not necessarily trigger nuclear MAD.

You said:
> all of these data centers are gonna be useless
Only in a remote sci-fi future that nobody can just wait for to arrive. There is no alternative to silicon in sight, not at any usable scale.
It would be like waiting for a miracle while the Chinese are building a hundred data centers to outcompute the rest of the world.
We can argue about how many data centers we will actually need and what exactly for but not about the necessity of building them.
As long as compute comes with power over people this is out of the question. I may not like the idea but this is how it is.
>>
>>540308751
>USA puts a lot of boots on ground on Iran while China invades Taiwan.
Not happening, China does not have a need to take taiwan, they could wait a hundred years to do it... also Taiwan serves as a proxy to bypass sanctions and trade with the west.
Meanwhile Iran is too large with a large population of zealots who wold take arms in case of boots on the ground, Iran has ATGMs that are comparable to the javelin that can take out even Merkava tanks, so Bradleys and Abrams would be useless, and Iran has an educated workforce so unless there is a total embargo on Iran they could mass produce FPV drones with fiber cable making any American ground invasion extremely expensive.

China can play the long game.
America is in total decadence.

Nothing ever happens so Nothing will happen. All In.
