The Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan in the 80s. Occupation failed.
The United States invaded Afghanistan in the 00s. Occupation failed.
It's said Afghanistan is one of the oldest countries in existence and it has been invaded many times, but every effort to permanently occupy Afghanistan has failed.

So how tf does Taliban control it?
>>
>>540298357
Greeks and Mongols didn't have any problems, for Mongols particularly the ruler at the time, named muhammed something, was an actual fucking retard where to warfare
>>
>>540298551
I'm not saying my English is great but you need more practice. I'm also talking about the past 200 years. Countries who have the mightiest militaries in history, failed to occupy Afghanistan. Greek and Mongol records could be utter bullshit. For the past decades we've had radio, TV, and the internet. We know for sure commies and yanks failed. I don't consider Greek and Mongol records reliable, their armies were shit compared to the Cold War militaries. It also doesn't explain why Taliban controls it now.
>>
the talibans are the will of the afghan people
>>

>how does the population of a country controls its country
What kind of nigger-tier IQ question is this? Kys yourself
>>
>>540298357
>So how tf does Taliban control it?
they don't there is still a war in afghanistan with former military members
>>
>invade completely fruitless desert
>"hey this sucks actually, let's go home"
many such cases
>>
>>540299844
How is Taliban the entire country?
During both Soviet and US invasions many Afghan warlords assisted against the Taliban.
Nah, you KYS, you seem to know fuck all.
>>540299749
Yes and that's why they must want the Taliban to kill their family and take the women for sex slavery. They were never occupied and the reason is they're all 100% cucks. Great strategy.
>>
>>540298357
Afghanistan is made up of tribes, not government
Its impossible to unify so its impossible to rule
The terrain is a major factor, supply lines are difficult to maintain
Imagine each tribal area as a new war and the people that you have "conquered" so far just waiting for a chance to strike back, forming alliances with other tribes etc
An absolute fucking nightmare

The Taliban doesnt really control it anymore that anyone else, just the major population centers
>>
>>540298357
Logistics, its pretty easy to win by relying on hit and run tactics and waiting it out, plus the taliban is the problem making insurgency they were trying to remove. If you want to remove the Taliban without too many war crimes, you need to play the long game, and that means sealing the country's borders and walling the cities, building a base of homegrown support and slowly expanding the rule of cities. Now that would take too much time and even more cash. The Soviets didn't have the resource and the American didn't have the ideology for it.
>>

>The Taliban doesnt really control it anymore
You could say that about any country, specifically South-America and Africa. Who controls Brazil or Mexico in reality? How did Taliban become the group controlling major population centers while commies and yanks couldn't do it? This is a legit question.
>>
>>540299735
Your English appears to be great bro
>>
>>540300758
I believe the Brazilian. Favelas are kind of controlled in a similar fashion. They're countries inside a country, where different rules apply, and different trade agreements apply. But, correct me if I'm wrong, this could only work in a country that hasn't been truly occupied before, where only some people have gone through the oppressive regiment?
For example Finnish people were occupied by Swedes and then Russians, and most of us are still clueless about our history, mostly our native religions and customs. They still exist in the East and that's where most of us get them from today.
>>
>>540298357
>So how tf does Taliban control it?
Because theyre locals.
>>
>>540300246
There being rival factions doesn't mean Taliban isn't a legitimate Afghan authority
>>
>>540302755
>But, correct me if I'm wrong, this could only work in a country that hasn't been truly occupied before, where only some people have gone through the oppressive regiment?
On the contrary, I think it could happen to any country, but it would first require a "national slap to the face" moment, where people are forced to accept they aren't exceptional, such as the occupations of Japan and Germany, which greatly differ with how USSR and USA dealt with Afghanistan.

I make mistakes here and there, I don't get to speak with natives a lot. I've been with American and British girls and due to my Finnishness I couldn't be quiet but had to correct them sometimes. I've studied from 3rd grade, watched a lot of American and British TV and movies, listened to mostly English music and read the KJV, Shakespeare and many other authors, lately Tom Clancy and Orwell. I understand almost fully but sometimes have to look up the meaning of a word, which are almost always very rarely used. I lack the understanding of using such words myself. Sometimes I use a wrong word while meaning something else. My accent is OK I've been told, sounds mostly American due to movies and TV, but sometimes I sound more British and people get confused. Culturally speaking I've been to both UK and US. I understand the schism but today I don't think there's a need for the posh higher education snobbery and the contrast Idiocracy theme. Being a retard isn't something people should thrive for, it doesn't get you laid and it makes your parents embarrassed. I hope you weren't being sarcastic. Benis xD
>>
>>540303415
And how would you simplify this into one sentence?
>>
>>540304075
I wouldn't. This anon >>540300359 is mostly correct, therefore what worked with Germany and Japan, the breaking of their exceptionalist mythos is what allowed the allies to re-shape them as friendly countries. Now, Afghanistan is mostly made up of isolated groups, so you cannot prove to everyone in a single event that they're not blessed, and God is not siding with them.
Hence the long game, protect the people who side with your cause, then slowly expand. But most importantly, try to choke your enemy's logistics, don't let them get cash, weapons or any resources via a friendly border, that's literally how the Vietnam's commies won the war.
>>
>>540299749
Go back to your shithole, Muhammad.
>>
>>540304602
>literally how the Vietnam's commies won the war
Interesting. Did you know Larry Throne or Lauri Törni was the first casualty of the legendary MACV-SOG? I learned about it visiting a museum.
There's a lot of YouTube footage about MACV-SOG, interesting shit. I wish there was something like that from the NVA and VC side too.
War is fucking dumb I wish we could just talk and agree on shit, but it's always this dumbass Highlander shit. They all die in the end like we all do xD
>>
>>540306061
No, I did not. I'll check more about it later. But yeah, I agree with the sentiment, it's dumb.
>>
>>540306542
Have you seen Oliver Stone's JFK starring Kevin Costner?
I bet the people who went to see the movie in theaters didn't walk out as the same people.
One of my favorite movies of all time.
Also the KGB was based on Okhrana, same as the Finnish secret police. Same roots. The Finnish INTEL in the WW2 was later used by the CIA.
Then you get all the agents working for both sides, Ames, Hanssen, Golitsyn, Polyakov, Tolkachev, they died for what?

Please, tell me the best Brazilian joke you know.

fear, intimidation, and proximity.
