no one had a choice unless you had your own electrical system off grid.

I opted out and still have my old meter with the little wheel.

That's not true. PG&E, the utility with the largest AMI network in the US, allows customers to opt out to digital meters without NICs in them. They have to be manually read, which is why they charge those customers an extra monthly surcharge.

I tried to explain to a boomer that those cages don't' matter because the waves just find the way of least resistance to leave, which is through the box. He meant well and I understand his concern but it just don't work that way. But you have to admit, nobody likes having that shit on their house.
>>
>>540338963
Why would you not have a smart meter? It allows you to monitor your usage in realtime via an app and saves the electric company having to send someone out to manually inspect the meter. They're just all-around superior

>>540339352
we shouldn't be paying for electricity at all

it all comes from the atmosphere, it's an unlimited resource just like water

my electric company wanted to change it out i told them no they came anyways and i had to yell at them to stop they said they will be back. months later 9am no notice they're in the back about to cut the power while im in the middle of work (jacking off) told them if they pay me my daily wage of 10 thousand dollars they can disconnect it they left and gave me paperwork said paperwork stated that they will be changing me extra 60 dollars a month can increase at any time and i need to show up in person and sign my name saying i agree to do this. i dont so i didnt sign anything and put a lock on my gate and now they need to knock when they want to get in to check the meter my wife thinks im crazy and told me to just go with the flow and it doesn't matter. i told her its a good thing my only rule in life is to never listen to a woman and laugh to make her think im joking. I honestly cant articulate why i hate the idea so much and why im so against it other than conspiracy mumbo jumbo i cant verify but they sound right to me.

phase changes, signal drops, gyro sensors, line communication with rf mesh or 3g/4g backhaul all detect tampering, this doesn't work. the line itself has feed data before it even reaches the meter.
>>
There is a l-ion battery, and a relay (to remotely switch on/off) in the thing, plus a radio.

In a wildfire, the power surges do cause fires in smartmeters and don't cause fires in dumb meters.

Smart meters produce a shitload of EMF, which causes weird failures in material due to microwaves propagating through the wires.

Go ask chatgpt if there was an increase in electrical fires in the us in 2012-2015, and if smart meter rollout started during that period.

I had to demonstrate that the cages don't work using a handheld RF detector before my boomer schizo finally understood. He won't back down on the 5G nanobots though

Cheap meter. If it had a neutral current sensor it'd flag that in seconds.
Of course zero usage is already something that gets caught as suspicious in analytics.
>>
>>540339843
one of the worst firestorms in history to affect a subruban area in the broadband era area happened in 2003, long before smart meters were rolled out en masse.

If SmartMeters caused fires then the numbers would have been permanently elevated, not only elevated during the initial installation period.

Economically I don't see a problem with it.

Prior to having a smart meter they would "estimate" my usage because they were to lazy and cheap to send someone to check my usage monthly because I was "too rural".

This always resulted in me being overcharged and receiving a "credit" when they actually checked my usage 6 months later.

The credit NEVER ever made up for the overcharge and I was constantly always owed money from the power corp.
>>
>>540339015
Same thing they said in my country. Not the same when they get confronted with a gun for touching things that are in your property. I didn't allowed them to change mine.

I loved the old meters because it was just a simple electrical motor, so you could swap L1 with L3 and your meter would count backwards
>>
>>540338963
We didn't have an option.
If you opted out they just cut off your power.
>>
>>540339144
I opted out and they put one in that doesn't transmit as far. I also opted out of the water meter but the niggers told me I couldn't opt out because I share a pit meter with my neighbor.

Only thing that I WOULD NEVER ADVISE someone to do, would be tinkering with the remote switch-off to prevent them disconnecting you from the grid. You know, if they need all the energy for data centers, NGO headquarters and such instead of you filthy peasants.
Deactivating this function would be highly illegal, so please DO NOT DO IT.
