I will never be a Black American. I'm not some FOB from Biafra or Barbados. My ancestors made blues, jazz, rock... they were sports stars and movie stars. My ancestors settled the West as cowboys and fought in the civil war.

I will never be Black with a capital B. That is for you... you will never be African-American. You will never know our unique cultural experiences and inventions.
