Iranian AD was getting more dangerous as the missions intensified, and without nearby bases even more so, which is why they stopped striking deep into Iranian territory and could only hit the coast, but that accomplished fuck all. They cannot fly over Iran without being in danger, and they also ran out of targets. There is simply nothing they can do besides a ground invasion or nukes, and either option is unacceptable.
