Humans are not robots nor perfect, so this ideal communism cannot work, compromises are made, greed and lazyness and politics takes hold and soon enough you end up with the soviet union

I don't think they were that autistically spartan about it, also the state owning everything is socialism which was posited as a precursor to communism. The problem with getting more specific is that even Marx himself was vague about what "communism" would actually look like in practice other than workers owning the means of production and the elimination of class, if was more a broad strokes theoretical ideal than an actual [non-]state program
