Huge number of people live outwith their means.
Subscribed to every streaming service. Car they can't afford on finance. Takeaways several times a month. Latest iphone. Gym membership.
It's a simple fact that previous generations didn't spend money on bullshit like this, because it didn't exist. Yet you blame boomers for your shortcomings like a typical incel freak who's never left the basement

None of these things improve your life at all.

>It's never been easier to pirate films/tv/music than it is today
>You can literally cook takeaway food at home and it tastes better and is a fraction of the price, make your own fucking burrito
>Dont need a gym, buy a couple of kettlebells and go for a fun
>Buy a used car that you can actually afford
>Buy a cheap android outright, no contract

tldr: you're just an entitled spoiled brat that needs to be drafted and be sent to the front lines.

3 years ago I cut all my streaming services and spent $300 on a cheap xeon PC from 2012 and a 14TB Toshiba drive a used enterprise one.
Filled it with every single show I watch on netflix, Disney plus, HBO, hundreds of movies in 1080p because 4k is too much so I save about $120 a month in streaming services now and instead spend $12 a month in premiumize which lets me DDL torrents by right clicking a magnet link and then manually renaming/adding them to my Jellyfin library.
That or I get lazy and watch them on Stremio using torrentio and premiumize. I'd probably get torbox if I wanted more anonymity.

Listen tards it's not affordability that is the issue. That's oversimplification for midwits. Were are facing 3 simultaneous disruptions:
>1. Productivity crisis
Not in the sense productivity of individual companies are down but the overall population. This is driving prices up as the currencies are devalued. You faggots know exactly what I am referring to. However there is part of this that is seldom discussed. The overwhelming destruction of morale which is driving sentiment negatively.
> 2. Competency crisis
As boomers retire they never trained competent replacements. People have been failing up for decades. This leads to wasteful and retarded decisions that impact markets that later impact prices. This is occurring from top to bottom.
> 3. Energy crisis
Retarded policies have shifted consumption habits. Renewable is a meme and does not exist. In reality it wastes energy for feels. You will never get the amount of energy used to create a windmill out of the windmill for example. This represents a net loss in energy. On a large enough scale this has real world impact on the cost of everything. This is likely the driving factor for the Iran war.

I used to just pretend to lose my bank card every month and get the number changed so any subscription I got free for the first month can't start charging me. A lot of these subscription services are deliberately made very difficult or time consuming to cancel the subscription so that people either forget or give up trying to cancel them. So I just try out what subscriptions I like for a month and then void out on paying them anything more than the first month. It honestly saved me time to just take an in person trip to the bank once a month to get a new card than it was to manage or cancel subscriptions manually. Recently I've just gotten a Cashapp card that you have to manually load on the app or else there's just zero dollars on the account. So you can load it with the exact amount you need to subscribe to something for one month and then they can't take anything more away from you if you forget about it. Either way it is very satisfying to then receive the automated emails from these kike app companies begging me to update my payment information. I can only imagine the kvetching kikes do knowing the goyim do this and thinking it should be declared antisemitic and illegal to do. Be the hunter not the hunted.

>Huge number of people live outwith their means.
Yes, thats what an affordability crises is. You think that means that people are spending too much, when the problem is that their means are comically small.
Prices on essentials have gone up many times more than wages have, which is objectively true and easily provable. Thats not our fault, but its become our problem.

The used market never recovered lol. Don't even try it, boomer. A used dealer on YouTube put up a video about how they acquire cars. I’m a 90s kid and grew up in a suburb in the GTA. The neighbour who lived next to me was a bartender/sommelier at a restaurant and he lived in a comparable house. His wife worked part time as a cashier at a convenience store (not because she had to but out of boredom). Housing was cheaper and TVs/electronics/appliances were more expensive. Clothing was only slightly more expensive (fast fashion was already a thing) and I remember cars being cheaper and more functional (never heard an adult bitch about cars being unattainable back then). So the shit people actually need has gotten significantly more expensive.

I'm a neet and as such I'm an expert on not wasting money. I'm not going around paying subscriptions to random bullshit like a retard. You can get a subscription to every site and content creator if you want but that's a luxury and you shouldn't be bitching about money if you do that. You can get everything for free if you know how to use the internet. When you see that meme of asmongold doing the 2$ steak that same food would cost him 20$+ if it's some mcd food delivery.
Some people are struggling but a lot of these faggots I'm sure are pampered faggots who must eat their 10x overpriced mcd meal 3 times a week and are paying some retarded youtube subscription because they can't figure out how to block ads without it or something.
I am now pro-boomer. Fuck these bitching faggots.

Save $5 per week.
52 weeks, that's $275 per year.
Now save $5 per day. That'll more than offset those subscriptions.
52 weeks, $5 per day, that's $1825 per year.
Do that for 10 years and you don't have a downpayment on a house.
Do that for 30 years and you don't have a downpayment on a house.
Do it for 50 years and you'll be old or dead, and you won't have a downpayment on a house even in today's money.

People who tell young adults to cut the Starbucks and stop taking subscriptions to streaming services demonstrate their financial illiteracy every time they do.
The market is wider than electronics and coffee. 2 pounds of supermarket minced beef is €10 now. I paid €4 in 2019. Don't tell me that the €15 monthly subscription to sound (which I don't have btw) is too much.

A house cost 15k hours of minimum wage in 1970.
The same house costs 52k hours in 2025 with 2025's minimum wage.
Most people don't make minimum, true.
The 80% average is about $18 per hour which makes the house cost 30k hours still, excluding cost of life.
But the mean being $4 in 1970 means that 15k is cut by 60% or so, getting you a rough average of 7000 hours of labour, which is 3,5 years assuming 2 weeks of holiday per year.
They did that with a 5-year mortgage including cost of life.
We can't do it even with a 20-year mortgage. 30 if we include cost of life.

TVs have become dirt cheap, and nothing's worth watching on them except your PC.
Houses have become prohibitively expensive and they're not really worth living in if you can afford it.

I mean, OP is partially right
1 small haas avocado is $0.50-$0.9; if you want to mix some tomato and onion, that will run you $0.80 and $1. Get bakery bread $1.50 from grocery store. So $3.80 - $4.20 for the ingredients, and you can make at least 3 avocado toast.
Hell, throw in a dozen eggs for $2.
Going out to eat is expensive, and will drain your bank account.

Boomers can't admit that they fucked up and were bad leaders and bad businessmen for decades.
That's not because they're boomers.
It's because they're not in our financial position.
They benefitted from their mistakes and leveraged the taxes of the youth in the future in loans ahead of time in order to generate those profits.
I distinctly remember my boomer dad and a barely gen X uncle talking about subsidised pensions, how it's leveraging taxes from the children and how great it is that kids will be paying for their retirement.
The gen Xer wondered if there even were enough children. My dad and mom are the only people of their generation in the family to have children, just me and my little brother.
There are 10 of them to support and only 2 of us, so the X'er asks "hang on, are there enough children?"
"No, haha, I guess we'll just have to accept more immigrants than haha, it won't be my problem I'll be retired."
They didn't know that immigrants of the sort we're getting are a net drain on the economy and have been a net drain for 50 years. Second gen and third gen as well.
What used cost the taxes of 4,25 FTE per pension is now 10 FTE per pension.
This system WILL collapse and there's nothing the boomers can do about it except deny that they fucked their wives too safely, and deny that they fucked with their children too vigorously.

If you deposit money in the bank, the bank is in debt. The bank then loans money out creating more debts. This works because of how much trust everyone has in the USA paying debts and the trust in their equities market to pay debts that allow companies equity to be valued at 20 years worth of earnings.

This post is fucking embarrassing.

“People have iPhones and order takeout, therefore the economy is fine” isn’t economics. It’s cope from people who spent YEARS blaming Biden for every expensive grocery run and tank of gas, then suddenly discovered “personal responsibility” the second Republicans owned the economy.

Rent too high? Budget better.
Groceries expensive? Cook cheaper food.
Insurance brutal? Stop wasting money.
Can’t afford a house? Lower your expectations.
Gas expensive? Drive less.
Struggling despite working? Must be that fucking Netflix subscription.

Give me a break.

You don’t get to campaign relentlessly on AFFORDABILITY, win power, fail to meaningfully fix affordability, and then announce that anyone still struggling is just spoiled.

That’s not an economic victory. That’s moving the goalposts because your argument collapsed.

And owning an iPhone doesn’t mean housing is affordable. Ordering a burrito doesn’t erase a massive rent payment. Having Spotify doesn’t magically reduce insurance premiums, grocery bills, utility costs, interest rates, or healthcare expenses.

Cheap consumer electronics and expensive necessities can exist simultaneously. Apparently that concept is too sophisticated for half of /pol/.

The Republican message used to be: “Look how badly Americans are hurting.”

Now it’s: “Actually Americans aren’t hurting, they’re just entitled.”

Amazing how quickly the supposed working-class populism disappears when acknowledging economic pain becomes politically inconvenient.

If your proof that the economy is thriving is telling Americans to buy less, eat out less, travel less, downgrade their lives, and shut the fuck up about prices, then congratulations:

You didn’t prove prosperity.

You proved people are being forced to adapt to an economy that still costs too fucking much.

You're right, because all of that shit is still affordable. Cars are getting kinda bad, and yes food and gas are up in price which is annoying. It's rent and housing that have skyrocketed to the point an average wagie can barely afford an apartment. Even when I was making 26 per hour the rent started at 1500 for a tiny studio and really was more like 2000+ for a lot of one bedrooms, so it wasn't worth it to move out. Even with 720 credit and $60,000 in savings I couldn't get pre-approved for any houses because they start at 350k. Except for the fact that even if you have a job where you can afford these luxuries you're constantly looking over your shoulder waiting for the axe to drop.

Sure, the prices of many things have come way down. But who cares when there is a total lack of job security or career advancement. Very few of us had the good sense to be born into a family where we could go to work for our dad or uncle. Most of us have to endure the churn. Having an iPhone is essentially a requirement for being employed at most white collar (and even some blue collar) jobs these days. You have it for about two years, maybe more. 1400/730. Each day, your phone costs you a little under 2 dollars

A burrito is a food item, multiple of which are consumed each day, and if we replace it just to mean “Americans complaining about food items on 1400 dollar phones,” the entire argument is obviously stupid. The cost of food far surpasses the cost of an individual phone.

Apparently you think if people didn't pay for their pornhub subscriptions or twitch subscriptions or ordered 10x overpriced mcds that muh economy would collapse. First that doesn't make sense (many of these services are international and rich people will still keep using them) and more to the point I don't care. People are using the wrong word. When a middle class person says “ground beef is unaffordable” they’re lying, they can afford it. I’m not going to stop buying ground beef because it cost 2x as much as it did a few years ago, but I’m allowed to complain about it.

It's actually true for most people. Most people are completely addicted to conveniences and so entitled that they would not even begin to consider giving up even a single one. The smart phones, the subscription services, the food deliveries, the new cars, you name it. Almost everyone who has trouble with money, definitely 90%+, is actually making more than enough money to survive but are choosing to live outside their means. You don't need to eat out every day. You don't need every subsciption streaming service that exists. You don't need a brand new car every time your lease runs out. You don't need your own place when you're making less than the median income. You don't need the newest smartphone model every year.

The human population needs a culling, badly. There are way too many mental and physical weaklings propagating at an alarming rate. Future society will be run by these people. The collapse is inevitable. The self correction will come.
>>
>>540421339

this. these kids need to go look at some pictures of the interiors of those 'cheap houses' and decide if they'd want to go back to the 70s.
what they're complaining about is that the food someone else made for them and then delivered to the door ready to eat isn't as cheap as when it didn't exist; cabs are more expensive than the bus; and it costs an hour's labor to pay for a month of entertainment beamed directly into your living room.
We live better than any king in history and yet they bitch about the price of a fresh banana in North America.

Yes. Democrats parade around weird looking men in wigs and a lot of them look like freaks. Will that be a message that convinces the average amerifat voter to go to the polls and vote for the status quo come november, when all of the comforts they've been conditioned to enjoy are becoming more expensive and the people who only a few years ago were complaining about egg prices are telling them to shut up because "democrats cut their dicks off."

Rent used to be $300 for a single room apartment now it' $1500 and in Commiefornia closer to $3000.

This isn't due to greedy boomers but batshit crazy taxes. Taxes which the boomer landlords have to push on to their tenants.

This biggest problem is taxation. But yeah, there is of course a little bit of greed involved too. The prices up during a manufactured crisis and then never come down.

> If they look like freaks and believe nonsense, why would you trust their politics
I'm not talking about me. I'm talking about the typical voter who is primarily motivated by how expensive shit is. Elections are about messaging, and the most effective messaging is always about the economy because it's a reality people live in every day. If you look at what many Republican lawmakers are saying publicly it's like a list of what NOT to say during an election year when Inflation is still a problem and the majority of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck.
>Just eat Ramen
>Stop bitching about the economy. Also we need billions of dollars to continue bombing Iran.
>Just work harder so you can get more money!
>You're only poor because [condescending assumptions about people's spending habits]
It's a recipe for disaster. Should people be eating out all the time? No. Go ahead and run prime time ads telling people they're ungrateful little shits that need to eat rice and beans though I'm sure that will work.
>>
>>540414432
Far as vehicles go that one isn't really the american consumer's fault, the market control and overinflated prices on vehicles with lack of options is brutal and buying old and used is an unknown that could cost you just as much in repairs over time as a car payment if you arent savvy.
>>
>>540423162
>Elections are about messaging

Monarchy is also about messaging to the nobles that you won't interfere with their privileges or overly tax them. Modern dictatorships are about messaging to the army and powerful people within the state. It's inescapable, no one rules alone.
>>540423371
>Oh the old Democrat "set up the economy to fail" gag?
They've been on the other end of it before. See: Jimmy Carter. The typical American voter IS a selfish idiot who doesn't really know what they want, but you're in a democracy. You can't lose them or you lose everything. If you want to criticize rampant consumerism you have to do it with tact, because right now people see extremely rich congressmen who live off the public dime telling them to stop eating 20$ burritos and think to themselves "hey, wait a minute. I don't eat out that much only once a week. And that twenty dollar burrito was 8 dollars ten years ago. And don't you make a bunch of money off of insider trading?" And from that moment you've lost that voter. You also lose votes from the people who do live within their means but are still seeing their cost of living increase, and yes those people do exist. Not every poor person is buying ubereats.
>>540423488
>I'll bite. Give us the details and try to explain how your personal financial situation isn't entirely self inflicted, then explain why you believe some politician is going to un-fuck all that for you and how.
I'm doing fine. I'm talking about the vast majority of voters. It's estimated around half of working adults live paycheck to paycheck, and while the average voter is ignorant they're capable of looking at their grocery bill and noticing the numbers going up when they buy the same products they always have. That's what I'm trying to say, it doesn't matter if it is or isn't the fault of the sitting party. You can't win a fucking election if you lose those people. I don't think this is hard to understand.
>>
>>540418047
It's generally correct to assume that whatever you purchase - food, clothes, etc - has at least a 100% markup at the last point of sale and most have more.
If you can make it yourself, you should.
>>
>>540423493
>now it's trump and his droogs that do the same thing with as much or more disdain for their own voters

These guys aren't Trump voters, they're leftists in coastal cities blaming Trump for the exorbitant living costs caused by Democrat policies in their cities/states.
>>
>>540423588
I'm fine, just an observer. R's are ignoring their own constituents grievances and concerns by insulting/bullying/dismissing them just like D's did when they expected all their working class to just mindlessly push the D button for Clinton. That's why your lot has resorted to highly personalized snipes at anyone questioning whether the administration's priorities are in order or pondering what the point of 10 years of Trumpism was really about. It's a brazen strategy derived from hubris and it is a losing one
>>
>>540423759
I've come around on Carter. He was right, consumer spending is bad. But he sunk his own ship and the reps reaped the reward
