Brazilian influencer Bianca Barreto has been sentenced to two years in prison and ordered to pay R$20,000 (about $3,800) in damages after being convicted of criminal misgendering and calling a transgender woman a "man."The conviction stems from a 2024 social media video in which Barreto referred to Congressman Duda Salabert, a transgender politician from the left-wing Socialism and Liberty Party (PSOL), using male pronouns and said, "A man is a man, a woman is a woman."The judge ruled that deliberately referring to Salabert by biological sex constituted "social racism."
