The only reason they *cant* just keep making old models of cars and reselling them is regulations. They are capable of it, some work vans tend to look identical to the models released in the late 90s, showing it’s certainly possible. But average consumer vehicles have so many extreme restrictions on them that it just becomes a mess. And the trend is for *more* regulations and mandates computers in cars.
