>>540439424Over here they changed the law a few years ago so that you now have to wear a helmet on a moped that goes 25 km/h. So now everyone is riding e-bikes with pedals, don't need a helmet and don't need a license, and it also goes 25 km/h. And since you don't need a license, you can get on it while high or drunk and not lose your license when caught by police. So currently over here, it's the best mode of urban transport because of the laws. A lot of people complain about it but I don't mind it. I've never been nearly hit by one or anything. I think it's just people being grumpy that they had to pedal the shit out of an old bicycle when they were teens, and now kids are riding around on motorized bikes at like age 13. I bought one to see how it rides, it's pretty good. Has a throttle that takes you up to 6 km/h to start going, and then you can pedal with zero resistance, as long as you're rotating the pedals, the bike goes. 25 km/h is the perfect speed for a city with proper bike lanes. Bikes that can go faster than that have to go on the road here. I much prefer riding on the bicycle lane, it's so much more nimble and there's barely any standstill time, bikes can just fly past each other no problem, if you're surrounded by cars the ride is a lot more sluggish.
