Unironically, a great line. Democracy must never triumph over individual rights and dignity

Axis of evil

Nuke them all and 3/4 of world's problems are solved.

A republic is just a country that is not a monarchy or theocracy, that's original line. The USA could become a communist state and it would still be a republic

a double bluepill combo !

It WAS a democratic republic. Now it's a kleptocratic imperial oligarchy but with an even dumber cult of personality.

MAGA murdered the republic.

If say everyone in Sweden votes for your circumcision, will you get circumcised ?
>>

Blaming Trump for everything loses you credibility, if America is an oligarchy it didn't happen in six years. Decades of government private partnership did. A central federal state that out spends what it makes by trillions of dollars and antitrust laws means were aren't even really capitalist anymore.

Correct. It is a representative democracy.
A republic.
Or used to be anyways. Not that an irrelevant continent would know
>>

That is how most educated people define a Democracy. A Democracy isn't a place where 50.1% get to do whatever they want to the 49.9% forever, there are fundamental rights baked in which require a much greater margin to overturn. Democracy is a whole system and the voting is just part of it, the other parts include (among other things) a free press, trusted institutions and a culture where both sides are willing to accept when they lose. I don't doubt that Vladimir Putin won the most votes in the most recent Russian election but that doesn't make Russia a Democracy.

It's just a wordplay workaround they use when they encounter similarly pedantic nonsense.

Democracy takes mamy forms for many reasons, a union of states is simply not a singular country after all so it makes sense to keep the direct democracy local while ensuring the individual states are not eclipsed too badly.

It remains odd that democrats would accuse their enemies of being in a cult of personality when only they themselves care so much about Trump.

All because they sre unwilling to face that he delivers the actual will of the people in many respects.
