>Russian troops firing with rifles at an incoming Ukrainian kamikaze drone, eventually managing to shoot it down.
Shooting down a drone seems much harder than shooting a frisbee.
It took the Russian soldiers so many bullets just to barely hit a drone.

its not like shooting skeet lil nibba but that's plenty hard already
>>
You only have to hit it once
>>
>>540477505
getting harder and harder as the drones are getting faster and both sides are now equipping thermals on fps drones as well. it's almost as if someone wants the number of Slavs to drop sharply...
>>
>>540477505
With a rifle? Nearly impossible. Shotgun? Just mildly difficult at low altitude, but above 100m it gets to be unrealistic. New weapon platforms are needed for this use case.
>>
>>540477505
they don't get any training, that's why they can't shoot and it's why you constantly see them getting killed while using clearly marked roads to travel.
>>
>>540477505
Also, rifle fire into the air at drones at angles below about 70 degrees to ground poses a significant risk of friendly-fire casualties when the rounds come back down. We need mini-flak rounds of some kind.

You are retarded.
It's not a video game.
>>
>>540478817
Duck ammo would be enough. Or light buck shot. BB through 0000 buck would be my choice, tungsten if it can be afforded.
>>
>>540477505
Use flak shells
>>
>>540478767
>We need mini-flak rounds of some kind.
Russia has invented anti-drone bullets.
They're basically shotgun shells.

How is this political?

Duplex ammo has been around forever.
>>
>>540479146
yep those would all work fine
I’ve never fired tungsten shot , sounds cool

War is politics, and arms are also part of politics.
>>
>>540479355
I sale sporting goods. It's crazy expensive but delivers a lot of punch at altitudes duck fly at. Copper jack lead shot might also give the penetration needed to down drones. Really the question is how much shotgun you want to lug around and how choked you need it to be. Too much choke can cause you to need an expert to use it or shot deformation. To open and it is a scatter gun that might not be effective at any real range.
>>
>>540477505
They should invent some kind of shooting net add-on to the rifle, like M4A1 grenade launcher but shooting net instead of grenade. It may help to take down drone at close distance.
>>
>>540479812
A better approach is to use drones to counter drones.
The downside is that it’s too expensive; you can’t equip every soldier with a drone.
>>
>>540479812
When nets open they convert all the energy into spin, it's a supper effective way to slow down. Every thing like this isn't a problem of making it but at what range and time you want it to be open. You can dial in the opening to any given range but only one at a time. Unless you had a way to have it open by detecting the drone.
>>
>>540478372
If you watch this video they do shoot it down
all of them have tracer rounds though which I found strange, probably staged

>>
>>540479973

There is no counter drone possible when you have sometimes 1-10 seconds to react to one. Dedicated shotgun with ultra small pellets.
>>
>>540477505
nearly impossible

especially as future drone design make them fly faster and keep flying with bullet holes in them
>>
>>540479669
You don't need penetration. The lightest birdshot is enough to take a drone down
>>
>>540480654
Ultra small shot delivers no energy. If it's close that shit isn't opening up, if it's that close the explosion is still going to get ya at least partly.
>>
>>540480888
Checked but I don't know if that's true.
>>
>>540479669
You don't need much to bring down these drones. Even the toughest ones are pretty much made of plastic and carbon fiber with no redundant avionics. Almost any hit will put them on the ground. You can also go after the fiber optic tether most of them are using, but that is a different problem.

Shooting down drones is not that hard if you aren't an alcoholic loser.
Literally skill issue.

Apparently very hard, even self absorbed american tough guy operators admit it.

Lol, do tell me all the birds you snag from the air with a rifle.
Real life isnt life video games zoomer moron.
>>
>>540480268
If you put enough rounds into the sky you will hit them eventually, but it is not efficient. They are probably using some version of what we call rat-shot rifle ammo, which is basically shotgun ammo in a rifle. Destroys the rifling, but good for this use case.
>>
>>540477505
get a BB gun and shoot a fly
>pretty hard
>>
>>540481222
The question isn't would a dove load down a drone, but it's only going to do that at a fairly short range. Bird shot is far more limited than what most people think again how it's choked matters but the math is well known, the increased surface area eats you kinetic energy. Better than nothing but id still take a duke load.
I might be crazy but I have a drone shotgun set up and it's built for cranking off rounds with a lot of heavy shot at mid range.

You can't deliver ordnance on a platform that moves that fast. Those are just surveillance drones. Grenades are heavy.

This is the obvious response. Suicidal anti-drone/drones that blow up when they get close enough to anti-personnel drones.

>you can’t equip every soldier with a drone.
Which is why you're eventually going to have converted humvees or bradley-type vehicles that act like little drone carriers to support your infantry. I even made a little diagram.

Russians are known for their inaccuracy though. Like africans and 40k orks they just hold the trigger in and expect the loud bang to kill the target all by itself.
>we got 1
at last!
Unfortunately for President Big Shoes Ukraine are making 20 million drones this year.
Practice!

I love it when no gunz with no military experience try to interject
>>
>>540477505
Because anti-air gunnery is a skill modern militaries dont have anymore, its complex, requires smart people and discipline. When war is done by missiles and smart weapons there is no budget nor training in legacy forms of warfare.

Rat shot is semi retarded. Rifling causes spin off, very rairly you will find unriffled .22s made for rat shot, the difference is amazing but you still arnt deliver and force at range. Making a rifle into a shotgun is bad idea, making a shotgun into a rifle is just modernizing muskets.

I love it when anonymous people interject to assert authority with no substance to anything. You could even be an illegal Juan hiding behind the US flag.

In all fairness working for the government is not a credential I would brag about. I really don't care about opinions based on Walmart level government training.

That being said, yes most people are uninformed on what bullets actually do down range.

Muh. I have a few good ideas for stopping drones. I don’t want to write them though because fuck Russian's and their clap Poos.
They say if you see one that the best thing to do is to run towards it and catch it with your hands. Or failing that what many, many Russians have done is (for some reason this is real) turn your arse towards it while huddling up into a ball. Evidently Russians are told that arses defeat all makes of drone.
Lets watch some

Pic: India is sending a lot of turd to Russia as military assistance to somehow defeat the drone menace. Not sure how it's supposed to work but India assures them that it does.

>With a rifle? Nearly impossible
oh ffs, while its hard it not THAT hard, the problem is late detection.
If you need to shoot from the hip yea its over but if you know they are coming and from where rifle is just fine
The whole thing about drones in 2026 is detecting vs makebileve stealth tech of new drones
>>
>>540482328

>>
>>540482650
it is not easy
shoot a fly in air with a gun
not easy at all
>>
>>540477505
Not hard at all with a proper rifle. And I don't understand why they can't make sound based automatic trackers. Drone noise is pretty specific. With a semi auto long shotgun full of bird shot it would be trivial if you got your eye on the drone. Drones are so weak I think the right weapon is an airsoft type, full of metal bbs, full auto, and basically an unlimited magazine capacity. You could also train hawks to kill them. That's probably the smartest thing.
