The Spanish treated their colonies like garbage and enacted such backward economic policies on them that made it extremely hard to develop proper industries. For example even simple things like making honey or wax was not allowed in Mexico, it had to be imported from Spain to prop up the Spanish economy. This created a culture that discouraged entrepreneurialism. Point 2: terrible leadership in Latin America which can also be blamed on Spanish culture. Had the region been colonized by Germany, China or Britain it would have had much better values. Point 3: Catholicism. It's a slave mentality religion. Theres a reason even Islamo SEA (Indonesia) has a higher GDP than Spanish Catholic SEA (Philippines). The latter is a complete shithole even when compared to here. Now compare Spanish Catholicuck SEA to Islamo British SEA (Malaysia). The difference is even more stark. Only thing worse than being colonized by the Spanish is being colonized by the French who were somehow even worse at it.
