It's basically impossible to stay in Switzerland unless you have a work visa, or you buy the millionaire visa for $500k. And for a work visa you need a job. As soon as you quit that job you have 90 days to find a new one or leave the country. After living in Switzerland for X years you can apply for some sort of indefinite stay. After 10 years you can apply for citizenship. But you need de facto need to speak German.
