I don't get it. Why don't all the desert oil countries make a deal with saudi arabia and transport all their oil through the suez canal into the mediterranean (picrel)?
Why is it such a problem if Iran wants to control a waterway that's realistically only really important to them? Is it because it would take way too long to establish infrastructure on such short notice to transport enough oil to meet global demand? In that case you could just dig into reserves and speedrun construction in Saudi Arabia with the help of U.S. and European companies until you have steady traffic again.
Maybe I'm retarded, but I don't see why my idea wouldn't work. Can someone explain?

They’ve had plans on the books since the 80s, but capitalism dictates you delay investment until it’s 20 years too late. Which is why chinas model of governance will prove superior this century.
>>
drumpft would start a war to "open the suez canal" and then there goes that idea

because they're sandniggers?
kek
but seriously, they already do that to a certain degree. However, there are some issues. Firstly, Saudi Arabia has oil pipeline connecting East to West (Red Sea). And UAE has pipeline connecting Abu Dhabi with Fujairah (on the other side of the Strait of Hormuz). But these have limited capacity so they can't fill up all the demand.

qatar doesn't have natgas pipeline due to political disagreements with neighboring countries. It relies on LNG tankers to get its nat gas out to the world. Also, Ras laffan itself has been heavily damaged. Kuwait also doesn't have Oil pipeline nor does Bahrain. These things are expensive to build and lead to political disagreements

Moving flammable liquid trough the scorching heat of the desert?

>>540546026
Look at how many barrels fit on a ship, how are you going to transport that much across land? Trucks won't carry that much and you would need a shitton of trains running back and forth 24/7 just to meet the demand, not only that you would need railway infrastructure, which saudi not only is incapable of building but also Iran can just bomb the shit out of at a moment's notice.

A real German would know why it's not financially viable to use land routes in shithole countries full of terrorist factions and possible bandits.

oh wow actually planning and governing is better governance than not governing at all? damn thats crazy, how did the "best and brightest" of the west not see it coming

The same as any other country that's out of reach of shahed/kamikaze drones, which are the only reason why Iran has even a semblance of control over the straight.
>>540546335
Wouldn't the current situation give them a good enough incentive to disregard political disagreements and band together though? I mean their entire income depends on oil, so they might as well work something out.
>These things are expensive to build
And? Doesn't the U.S. have infinity money? Unless it's a costly endeavor time wise, I don't see the problem here.

uae and saudi hate each other under the table. also pipelines are very expensive, and take time to build.

>Doesn't the U.S. have infinity money
why would we building their pipelines? We have our own shale boom. although with trump you might honestly be right. pipeline would be built with a 20% stake for affinity partners and another 14.88% for KKR kek

Yes, kikel.
In the real world, real men have to build real pipelines.
You can't just rob entire generations by moving digits on a screen like you are used to.

as opposed to SEA routes in shithole countries full of terrorist factions and possible bandits?

Why not just have western companies do it then? And if Iran can bomb the oil countries directly, then the straight being closed is a moot point anyway.

i can
its called profit
the supply for demand is secondary
companies and countries are reluctant to start such a megaproject or mobilize resources because, it willl cut into their profit, for a long time
now, they are still making money but a little less
constructing these pipelines (or build a hightway for tanker truckers) is astronomical
the capacities need to be huge, the ports need to be expanded
it also needs cooperation which is not the strong side of the region
but the point is, the global demand is secondary
and the president play into this with the negotiations, strait half open, sometimes open etc
>>
>>540546026
>I don't get it.
not to pick on you, but consider that the people involved don't want you to get it, they're not giving out information that will enable you to get it, and their plans require that you and others don't get it before they get their cut.

I think crypto voting is more transparent+trustworthy.
As well as transparent budgets- deadlines so when one company fails, another can fill in where the other has failed to fulfill contract.

sad but true, pure private sector was a mistake, not sure where this psyop started where right wing = privatize everything, even kings had monopolies for a reason

Probably because it costs too much money and can be blown up at any moment, plus nobody gives a shit about saudi arabia, it's just another nation of jewish asslickers, they're just another brown nation to be used and discarded when they're no longer needed.

Anon you are brilliant. You have literally figured something out that the worlds best engineers, top leaders, oil executives with doctorates in logistics and everyone else couldnt figure out.

What are you doing wasting time here on 4chan?! You need to tell the President your brilliant plan IMMEDIATELY!!!

>Why don't all the desert oil countries make a deal with saudi arabia and transport all their oil through the suez canal into the mediterranean
Most of the oil and LNG going through the Strait of Hormuz are heading to Asia, so putting them into the Med would increase transit times a lot.
As for everything else, it is simply very expensive and takes a lot of time. Even before the war began, when global oil flows were mostly unmolested, the system sometimes struggled to avoid congestion at key chokepoints like Hormuz. It has been like that for a long time, and not much is done about it because of how expensive it is to increase capacity.

A fully redundant system with massive capacity to handle shocks to the system (like the Iran War) would be too expensive to maintain and the owners would see masssive losses. You can't just keep a separate set of oil infrastructure on-hold just in case Hormuz gets closed. Maintaining that infrastructure would be too expensive. So for profitability's sake, the system tends to work near full capacity without an alternative around if things get bad.
