Illiterate peasants brainwashed with propaganda about how evil the rich city people were. They roll into Phnom Penh and forcibly evacuate the city saying the Americans are going to bomb them. Force everyone to live a peasant lifestyle farming rice for ages. Kills anyone perceived to be a Lon Nol supporter or intellectual (wearing glasses). Only farmers. Millions die of starvation and overwork due to impossible quotas.

We cannot even talk about history objectively without either being a capitalist or a communist.The fact is Cambodia was fucked. Most of the country was enslaved in hellish conditions where they worked 12 hours per day for food. They were not even paid in money. They had no safety gear no occupational health and safety laws no workers rights. To his credit Pol Pot industrialised Cambodia in a speed of which we have never seen before. But of course with the power of a dictator comes the fear and the internal purges began. Pol Pot was a communist, and most of the people he killed were also communists, don't write that out of the history. The Khmer killed more of their own people than they did the non communists. And the '3 million' figure includes the victims of the war. Every victim of the war. The US/vietnamese said every single person they killed was a victim of Pol Pot.
You could argue that most of the Khmer were not even communists. Considering they were illiterate peasants. They believed what they were told because they could not read a book.
