It was designed to be made by 80 iq african faster than an AK could, they could have just used the standard technical data package and made some short barrels instead of bullpup but the UKs entire firearms manufacturing history is trash. The sten was the worst 2nd gen SMG in the entire world, germans made better in stolen factories, Russians made 3 better examples while eating each other and dying 12:1 in the piss cold. Every notable firearm of UK origin was shit or borrowed IP, the bren nothing but a czech ZB26 converted for blimys and almost didn't work when measurements were converted. Almost every German mainstay weapon was copied and/or manufactured for export after the war, nobody went to the brits to ask how to make stens or hunting rifles or machine guns because every example they had was under license or worse than what a nation fighting and losing against most of the world could put out after being bombed to oblivion and cut in half. HK had no right to be as successful as they are under these conditions and this pattern is likely repeated all across europe with all manner of industry. The brits should have signed a deal with Hitler and they'd have gone to space before the soviets and made guns and cars worth putting on billboards and flags, they'd have more than 50 working MBTs and be able to export them like Rheinmetall does.
