Most philosophers were philosophical idealists.

>Idealist philosophers argue that reality is fundamentally shaped by, or dependent upon, the mind, consciousness, or ideas rather than material physical things.

Races were no exception from "things dependent upon the mind".

Yes. Read Badiou.

Although I disagree with "most Philosophers were idealists."

Same with gender. Gender and race being social constructs is the perfect example of the retard-and high IQ guy agreeing while the midwit is baseding out about "MUH BIOLOGY!"

yes, our minds dictate reality. This is how the observer effect works. And how things like particle wave duality can happen.

It's how faith works. And why Peter began to sink on the water that evening. Jesus Christ fully understood this, and evidence of hte strength of his faith is seen in every miracle he was ever able to perform. Those miracles were able to happen because of what your OP is talking about. At least in part.

It's what Jesus is talking about when he talks about being able to move mountains with faith. He means literally.

Matthew 17:19-21
>19 Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?
>20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
>21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.

The bible explains how to do a lot of crazy stuff, and how a lot of really neat things work. It just takes a lot of weird thinking to understand.

Materialism / physicalism: Matter or physical processes are fundamental; minds arise from physical systems.

Idealism: Mind, consciousness, or experience is fundamental; what we call the physical world is somehow dependent on or constituted by the mental.

So what would these guys say if they could see into the future and see their race getting replaced?

> reality is fundamentally shaped by, or dependent upon, the mind, consciousness, or ideas rather than material physical things.
That's what modern neurophysiology confirmed with help of experiments.
What we can know about reality at all is necessarily constructed by our brains, not magically mirrored from the world into our minds.
In this sense every word is a lie but most people strongly believe to handle reality as such when using words, not just signs of communication.

When every word is understood as a lie, the lie is no argument against it. You have to ask how well it serves us anyway!

You have to read Nietzsche's "On Truth and Lies in a Nonmoral Sense" which is a short but mind-blowing piece of text:

Philosophers don't say the mind creates reality, it says that we as humans create the categories, be it through our senses or reason to interpret reality. There's nothing outside this interpretation. Reality is just basically infinite raw data you have to interpret in some way, without it there's no 'object'

You're being overly abstract, thanks for answering anyway. Are you suggesting some version of accepting the consequences of bad decisions, and of undesirable outcomes not caused by you personally? I think I might be getting close to a place where I see these things as useful, not as in coping or rationalizing, but as things I can actually use and make work for me.

>>540679533
Part of me didn't want to rely on pre-made systems of belief, because I saw that as lesser, although from the style and complexity of my writing, you can probably tell I'm in no position to make that judgment.
So far philosophy has pointed me toward some kind of nihilism based on self-created values. My level of the trait agreeableness seems too high for me to pull that off successfully.
The problem with anything like that seems to be the role of the self in finding a path, something a very disagreeable person probably has no trouble doing. But even if I could, the things people base their lives on seem shallow at best. It usually boils down to some version of materialism, money worship, status worship, or blind hedonism. I don't know anymore. The more time I spend on this, the less I actually live, and the thought of waking up one day at 70 without having actually lived my life terrifies me every single day, but so does the thought that a close-to-perfect life might actually be out there for me, one I've ignored out of hubris, or laziness that just made me stop searching for answers. Thanks for reading my blog

I've been hitting my head against the wall of personal accountability, but I don't think I actually know what it means. I don't think I've ever embodied it to a degree that could alter my life. I've been fed a meme version of personal accountability and I've suffered for it. Show the non-meme version of it, post some links, books for a longer post.

Unfortunately for physicalism it relies on an indefinable concept of physical essentiality. The deeper you go the more you get to describing something immaterial and strange rather than irreducible and atomic. Quantum fields, foams, queefs, etc

>>540675627
Race/gender/any other distinction isn’t necessarily precluded by idealism. Even if you consider mind to be the fundamental substrate, you can still treat them as emergent categories. Just because mind sits at the base layer doesn’t mean that patterns don’t exist. Race is an information compression technique that exists regardless of your metaphysical beliefs.

Idealism in the political sense (ideología), but not philosophical. Idealism is perfectly compatible with racism. I’d argue that idealism is generally more compatible with racism. It’s the modern materialist mindset that gave rise to the kind of suicidal empathy that allows a European to think that they too might have been born as a jeet or a nigger, and it’s just by luck that they were born white. Whereas past peoples (Christian or otherwise) were both more idealist and more essentialist in their thinking.
>>
>>540683092
That's completely misapplied. Idealism is a philosophical view which, influences politics which can be summarized as ideas give form to reality.
The problem is that you don't see how modern politics are a secularized and corrupt version of the idealistic philosophy of Christian authors.
It was the secular racial science, specially evolution (Darwin, Spencer), what gave raise to racism. Principally by breaking with the idea of Genesis

It's a perspective that is at least backed by objective knowledge and preferable for reasons of heuristic pragmatism when examining the objects of the mind.
The alternative would be mere speculation and magic thinking. How boring!
This does not mean that brain activity could explain everything. It can't explain mind itself, the unmoved mirror-like beholder of the processes in the brain.

Materialism and progressivism go hand in hand. Go spend time in any of the places where modern scientific thought sprung out of and you’ll be bombarded with all kinds of gay propaganda and George Floyd signs etc. on a level far surpassing whatever you could ever see in Spain. London, New York, Boston, etc., all centers of materialist as well as progressive thought.

Ultimately, materialism does away with the concept of “essence”. Materialism is like syntax without semantics. So a concept like “the gene” becomes basically superficial and interchangeable. This gives rise to white guilt, suicidal empathy, and other pathologies that are most prevalent in the places (Anglo countries) where materialism sprung out of.

Bringing Christianity into the conversation confuses things because that historically meant something very different depending on where you were from. A Spaniard’s concept of Christianity is something totally distinct from an Englishman’s or American’s, and even though modern American-style anti-racism is probably directly traceable to their ancestors’ Christian religiosity, it cant be said to be a result of ALL Christian religiosity.

>I'm going to take a point I don't understand and use it to pretend to refute a misclassification of biology
"Race" is species. Not even subspecies. Properly used, "race" would refer to Germans, French, Swiss, etc etc while ignoring the orient, Africa, etc etc.
Race is a subclassification of extended kinship. Stop drinking from the poisoned well.
>>
>>540680673
>>540681025
Race is as "real" or "illusionary" as any other term of our language.
Any arguments against this particular term are just as valid against all other terms.
It's the lack of education on epistemology that makes people believe they could dismiss terms as "social constructs".
As if there were any terms that are not social constructs! This can be no criterion for their quality or usefulness.
>>
>>540685268
Incorrect. You have asserted that the meaning of a concept with applications is on the same level as a linking word. That is not how words work.
That said, it should be noted that "social constructs" intensify the importance rather than permitting dismissal.
>>
>>540685268
This.

Linguistic terms are techniques for compressing complicated things into fewer dimensions and making them intelligible. Their utility may be judged by their longevity.

The future is both more idealist and more racist.
>>
>>540684579
It doesn't. At all. Multiculturalism is the result of liberal progressivism which is a secularized degeration of Christian ethics.
The ideas of guilt and empathy are profoundly religious (we are all brothers of the lord, mea culpa, help the ones in need, living a moral life, no kingdom but the kingdom of God, yadda yadda...).
All of these beliefs are core to the message of Christ.
You also mistake science as a method, which the sad state of science as an institution in the West (Nowadays China leads in most key scientific fields and they didn't doubt in making concentration camps for muslims).
In this you have been fooled by progrssives and their discourse that pretends that science supports them (after having utterly subverted every single institution).
For example a past example, Julio Verne was a French Republican who believed that science would bring moral progress (Read as would make everyone agree with him), this changed completely when the German Empire showed that scientific progress had nothing to do with republican values

>>540686671
My point is that the materialist perspective gives rise to the kind of progressive anti-racist rhetoric we’re all subjected to nowadays. But not necessarily because it extends from it linearly, but because there’s something about the “flattening” effect of materialism that causes its adherents to become anti-racist. Just because Christian doctrine is universalist doesn’t mean that everyone actually believed in it. I’d argue that the anglos DID believe in it (likely because there was less heterogeneity among anglos due to 1. More executions during Middle Ages and 2. Elite birth rates), but this wasn’t universally true among all Christians. For example meds are naturally more hierarchical. At the turn of the 20th c. 25% of the population of Italy (and probably Spain) was illiterate. Even though castes didn’t exist on paper, there are all sorts of signs in modern Spanish society that point to a kind of implicit but informal historical caste system. Also see pre-Soviet Russia for another example of a Christian nation that had no problem treating different groups of people differently.
>>
>>540687490
The Church is the only reason why gypsies weren't properly dealt with.
In what you're right is that kings were more pragmatic and respected the customs (usos y costumbres) of the land.
There was certain balance because the Church used to believe what's of Caesar to Caesar's, the issue with progressive secularism is taking moral rules from a philosophy that to the moment was completely Christian and making them the rule of the land in a way more invasive than any traditional monarchy.
Progrssivism doesn't disagree with Christian moral precepts, they just accuse Christians of not being true believers.
For example progressives say: "Christias don't truly believe in loving your neighbor because they don't want gays to marry" (and this with everything)
