It guy here, no, its the same technology, Flock uses Yolo and OpenCV to spy on people, its an old technology that matured last decade.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MPU2HistivI

With openCV you can also add EasyOCR to parse text from a image, you can also calculate each object distance through stereo vision, so you can keep track of an individual as long as there is enough camera.

Any retard can use Darknet/Yolo using a webcam and setting up an stream through openCV, its lightweight unlike the LLMs it wont burn your GPU.

That company Flock is exploiting a low hanging fruit market as any goverment agency could have already built the same a decade ago.

Flock=Sheep

What is a flock exactly? A flock of sheep are used for profit, food, trade goods. When you name your surveillance company palantir and a joint company names their company flock, it’s pretty apparent what they are thinking. After decades of cultivating their immigrant stock and after importing another 60 million, we are all just a big “flock” being surveyed and consolidated to make line go up and keep the power with the oligarchs that rule over us

>>
>>540691934
I'm not closed to the idea, but what's the point? I can see benefits to an individual, a neighborhood or a community. What's the point of a network any larger than that for the general public's use? Legally, you'd be limited to private property that users own or control for any kind of permanent installation, which really limits usefulness, if in fact you had a use for them. You can't just put a pole in the ground on public property. What's the point of an all-seeing eye that has nothing to look at? It seems like protesting such a thing by setting up a parallel system that the same people could access isn't much of, if any kind of protest at all.

>>540692827

Governments aren't just going to open the books to the public dude. Any government that keeps secrets has an advantage over any government or frankly anyone else that doesn't. Sure
except then your every move becomes public domain
anyone with a grudge is one search away from premeditated homicide.

Flock is private. They can film everything in public. This is technically fine, in the same way you can I (well, I can, I dunno about Aussies) can film whatever we want in public.

The problem is gov basically doesn't need warrants. Flock implicitly complies with requests for information. That is their right - but it is way too incestuous, and clearly 'The Point'. So here in the US it gets around dragnets. Easiest way to deal with it might simply be defunding. These fucks are 'private' only in name. Their customers are all Government, throwing our tax dollars at the 'service'. Tax dollars that give any legal authority the privilege to straight up ask for whatever they want. Some law enforcement are just tied right in. No asking, they just have access. The end.

Cut the funding, and the (local) service dies. That's basically it. To continue they have to appeal to private property owners. Once property owners are their income (because anything at the municipal level has been neutered) their tune will change and they will start demanding warrants for releasing information.

It's an easy fix: constitutional level laws protecting individuals personal data AND any data derived from them i.e. meta data(this includes location, purchases, genetic, etc). Something as simple as a individual must opt in to each specific piece of data collected, time it's stored and can request deletion is all it takes.
On the flip side of this you put the mass survelience screws into any position of power in society: gov, media, finance, tech, etc.

I understand what you're saying, and I agree with you that it's not the ideal way to live. But the genie is out of the bottle, if there is going to be surveillance let it be total surveillance with transparent oversight. No two tier system, no blind spots, no kosher algorithms that "fix" raw data. I want something like police bodycams, totally unfiltered. I think we need to change our approach to the technology debate, and make it a tool to better White communities. What you suggested is good and I believe it is already being done. White enclaves need their own cameras and their own independent security installations

>>540695422
Yeah or let's just put the genie back in the bottle by codifying their use without a warrant as not a way to skirt the fourth amendment but a violation of it no different than accessing phone location data via a third party without a warrant. There's nothing illegal about the infrastructure itself but there absolutely is in how it's being used. Its use should be highly restricted, specific, and narrow. That alone will make it difficult to justify the cost for most local government applications.

I don't agree that the general public needs access to that totality of Flock's information any more than a sociopathic beat cop using it to stalk his ex-wife does. I'm not against oversight by the public to keep public agencies honest, but that doesn't mean the public needs the same access as public agencies. I think there's a rock solid argument that the image data falls under public domain and if any public agency is using those images then those specific images should be subject to FOIA requests. More important for transparency though are agency use logs. Ironically they may claim that publicizing that information could endanger law enforcement by violating their privacy, but they could certainly be anonymized in that respect; and that it violates the privacy of members of the public, but they're already done that. They'll claim that it could also compromise ongoing investigations, but the maxim "it's better that ten guilty men go free than one innocent man should suffer" is a foundational principle of our justice system, and if in fact that is what they're serving, then they should be held to that standard. That kind of oversight would also severely limit its usefulness as well. Enacting both would make them almost entirely useless. That's how you beat Flock.

This is what I meant by public access and transparency, thank you. Again I agree on tight civilian oversight but I would not just rely on one system. I want a democratization of dual use technology and the public to be educated about and have access to the same "toys" government agencies use, including drones, cameras, morion sensors, etc. I'm not saying declassify all latest research, that obviously can't be done for so many reasons. Apart from the retardedness I quoted this is a good idea

Tyrone can be caught in 4K jacking your car and he'll still be walking.

And I didn't suggest anything. I said that I could see how parallel, private systems could be useful on smaller scales. I'm not aware that individuals are taking it upon themselves to build those systems. Privacy law would still apply to those systems, but smaller ones would be far less likely to run afoul of those laws because they couldn't reconstruct a person's whereabouts outside of the area of that limited network. Tracking cars that drive down a street is very different than tracking every car at every intersection of a town or city.

I also see how the same could be used and abused to the detriment of a community. A lattice of smaller such networks can effectively become a larger network. Individuals may volunteer information or be coerced by public agencies more easily than they could get a warrant and then you're in a worse place than where you started.

I don't agree that surveillance alone can better any community. Catching someone that's committed a serious crime is great, and deterring that crime is too. Preventing it altogether by addressing the root cause is far better. On the other hand, trying to catch any and every little victimless violation is, I think, anti-American. That's Larry Ellison's vision of the future. I think we should be investing in something far cheaper and far more valuable instead.

no you also need to prevent partial convictions
under this system perhaps one person gets away with doing something whilst the other person doesn't because the police doesn't pursue conviction for the first person for some reason.

This is relevant because we have loads of laws that everyone violates at some point. Mass surveillance and mass scrutiny means that the government can conjure a conviction for any person.

Also you place too much trust in the strength of the constitution. If only all company people are in a room that no one knows about and talking about something unknown, then they could easily, tacitly agree to ignore the law. They will find loopholes by saying this is not 'operational information', obfuscate their activities with coded language, or hide their needles in a giant haystack of info.

Finally, the public and even journalists lack the energy or motivation to scrutinise terabytes of data every day. You could use AI, but that would be expensive to use at that scale.
>>
Daily reminder that the constitution is above the law.
In situation where the constitution is infringe upon law don't apply.

>This is what I meant by public access and transparency,
The raw data isn't particularly interesting. It doesn't do you much good without a way to organize and reference it, and even then it's just a reconstruction of the database, not of the queries made to it. That's far more important in terms of oversight and transperancy.

You can have the same drones, motion sensors and cameras. The constituent parts aren't illegal. The specific company may not sell them to you but that's their right. And there's nothing preventing you from building a parallel system with those parts available to you on cooperative private properties because, again, the infrastructure isn't necessarily illegal either. It only becomes illegal when it invades someone's privacy. That applies to public agencies, private companies, private citizens - everybody.

This would be very antisemitic. Jews are entitled to their privacy because holocaust.
Also, we don't have enough concrete to fill all the rape tunnels this monitoring would uncover.
