best advice I can give you is the same advice I got when I moved here from canada. open exactly 3 credit cards immediately so you can start building a credit score. fewer than that and your mortgage rate will go up. chances you willingly move back to canada are basically zero the way things are these days. set up everything for a long term stay.

second, basically nobody wants to hear you are from canada except other canadians. just blend in as an american.
