People who defend capitalism always say that it forces people to make their own choices and it rewards people who make smart choices.But I think this is to a large extent bullshit. A lot of people's choices in life are pure luck. Me and my workmate have the exact same job. But he got that job when he was young, and I got it when I was middle aged. I was unemployed for a long time. He is not better at doing the job than I am. I was not more suitable for the job when I got it than I was when I was the same age he was when he got the job. He got a question if he wanted to start saving for retirement when he was at the bank at a young age, I didn't. As a consequence he will have more money when he retires even though he saves way less per month for retirement.
