You need to understand that the people going to war are not the middle class from Moscow and St. Petersburg (many of whom have already left the country), not the liberal youth, not tech corporation employees, and not even students from Russia's top universities (though they have started being actively recruited).

The people going to war are the poorest segments of the population from the middle of nowhere, where there is either no work at all or jobs pay 300-400 euros a month, which is less than the minimum wage in places like Serbia, for example.

These people live literally like cattle. Great men plant trees under which they know they will never sit. I pay more for life insurance than my car, because I need to know my kids will be alright if I die, I need to know they will have better lives than me.
