My financial advice would be to buy a home to live in that's affordable and comfortable; but not to spend a lot on a fancy house because the market is likely to contract when the boomers start dying off. Mortgage rates suck now; but they're still going to be preferable to getting fucked with rent. Basically get yourself a basic; but comfy house that you can get a wife with then put the rest of your money into stocks or other investments that will give you better returns.
