I can say the quality and aftercare was superior in the US.There is a lot more physicians, specialists, and nurses in the US. They are not stretched thin meaning they are less stressed and thus provide better personalized care.In the US my surgical team met with me multiple times to discuss plans and were genuinely interested in what the best plan was for me. In Canada after a 20 minute consult I next saw my surgeon 4 months later the day of the surgery where he came in 1 hour before the surgery and said "Yeah I'm gonna try to do what you asked but im gonna do X Y & Z as well" which I didn't want to question because at that point I had waited so long and I had the next semester of univerity in a couple weeks.What resulted was what I originally wanted surgery for was not done (a device was removed instead of replaced) and he replaced a different device that was completely fine. While a success, my quality of life decreased slightly. Then within 5 years (now) the device he put in is beginning to fail and now i need another surgery, but I've been waiting 1 year now just to get an appointment with a new specialist to even discuss my case.I don't care what anyone says I'd rather pay what I pay now in taxes into a well-researched private healh insurance plan as I would have already had my surgery and been much healthier right now.
