Putin visited the Kurils this week including going to Japan's Island which is a pretty big overstep since these islands have been disputed 80 years with tenuous relations on them. Before he invaded Ukraine there was plans of invading Japan territory too that he passed on at the time. If Japan has to make a move as a proud weaboo who wants to go to japan someday (and the kurils i wish) USA is gonna have to back them up on this which would surely leap us into WW3 when NK and China hop on Russia side.
