The key to it all is the car. Without the car, you can't do anything, but if you buy the car then you don't have money to do anything. Rent is bad too, but that can be solved by moving to a cheaper area or adding infinite roomates. The car remains a problem though. With no car, you've got ot get delivery or fetch everything on a bike. You've got to pay for Uber or cabs to get to work. Every generation of Americans before the current one coming of age could afford cards. But Obama killed the used car market and it's still recovering two decades later. So, instead of buying cars- young Americans are buying Chinese E-bikes. And that's a big part of why they're all miserable.
