The idea of calling the police and trying to press charges is extremely absurd for a gym injury, unless someone actually attacked you. Throwing dodgeballs at the girls was the entire start of the game in elementary school and middle school dodgeball. All the guys just hit them first and then carried on. What a gay fucking school. The ones with the pleather cover(like in the picture) are very satisfying to throw and can go quite fast. I think the pain from the rubber balls interferes with the most entertaining and intellectually stimulating aspect of the sport, throwing and dodging. Same reason why boxing has foam gloves, to reduce the pain and damage, because that improves the entertainment value of the fight. I don't think pole vault would be fun if the pole was made of a splintering wood, or if the cushion was removed. Adding unnecessary pain to a sport is ogrelike.
