I absolutely adore the "white feather campaign" - it so diabolically British and almost perfectly reflects the fundamentally hypocritical and cannibalistic nature of the social structures within modern societies. The best part of its Machiavellian nature is how it manages to pit two unwilling and disinterested groups against each other based almost entirely on their primal instincts and use it against the core interests of both and to the benefit of the elites. Males have become too intelligent and well-off to willingly participate in unnecessary wars designed by the leaders - they are not incited by wages because they could do far better working in the civil sector and they are no longer gullible enough to believe this is their patriotic duty, since the war is clearly not being fought for the interests of the common British man. On the other hand, the government is not yet ready to engage in total forced mobilization, since that would break the social contract they had informally drawn with the public. Females do not want to send their men to die at Verdun either. In order to solve this conundrum the elites devise a fiendish tactic of simply pitting the two sexes against each other, praying on women's desire to improve their social standing and men's instinct of remaining a viable security provider for the tribe. Instead of the government forcing you to go and die in a bullshit war, it is now the social pressure doing this to you, which is even more compelling because instead of being deprived of your freedom/money as punishment for dodging the draft you now stand to lose your most fundamental role in the societal structure. If you do not go to war and fight for the interests of the elites - you are no longer a man and do not deserve to be treated as such. The most ironic part of this is that neither sex actually benefits from this, neither men or women, but engage in this charade anyway because of how methodically it appeals to their very natural instincts.
