WTF is happening in Japan!? What did Takaichi do to cause an investor route from Japan?
>>
No no you don't get it. Everybody will have to do this. ZIRP is OVER - countries will have to at least match the US's prime rate in order to attract any institutional buyers.

This isn't investors fleeing, this is Japan making the first move in competing with the US by offering decent interest on bonds. Most countries don't pay shit or if they do, inflation is killing them faster than the bonds can pay out. You have to have inflation below the prime rate, ideally a good deal below. But it's been above in many places for a while now.

You have no idea at all what's going on.

there's infinite money but its not enough to prop up bond prices

Japan is speed rushing to becoming Thailand 2.0
>>
>>540853179
That's pretty good news though. I don't like Thai women that much. Japanese women are a bit cleaner. Japan should go all-in on that and establish Tokyo as fuck central for white men to save their economy. And of course remove all niggers and Indians.

Japan is not rising the rates fast enough.
That's why yields are going up but yen is dumping hard despite the FED intervention.
If Japan were to match coupon rate on the US bond they would go bankrupt from financing the national debt that's over 200% gdp.
>>
>>540852546
inflation is rising because of Iran war, you have no idea what are you talking about retard
>>
>>540852546
When government spends like a drunken sailor, it causes inflation.
When inflation happens, people lending you their money expect a greater interest rate.
Japan used to have a "moribund" economy and therefore inflation expectations and interest rates stayed very low.
Takaichi promised to spend a shitload of money on the military, for obvious reasons, and this is generating inflation and rising rates.
>>
>>540854446
The producer inflation is around 7% already and Japan can't afford to hike rates to meet the inflation due to their debt burden.
Now I see why people sell the bonds immediately and switch yen to another currency.
It's a ticking time bomd, fug
>>
>>540854855
>Japan can't afford to hike rates to meet the inflation due to their debt burden
I really don't think that's it.
Japan owes about 9 trillion dollars total
88% of that is domestic
Does the other 12% actually matter when they have over a trillion dollars in US treasuries?
Japan has been gaming this system for decades with the carry trade. One wrong move and they can blow up the entire world economy. They obviously don't want to do that.
>>
>>540852546
genuinely hope japan will be okay. i love anime so much. it does appear that the globohomo has turned its hooked nose towards the land of the rising sun. they will probably destroy the economy and make it illegal to work so that they can flood japan with shitskins
>>
>>540856075
If the GL balist banks get more hooks into Japan they will install radical feminism, crush birth rates to near zero, replace the Japanese with shitskins and destroy anime forever.

We'll see what happens but so far the strategy has been to buy time on the assumption that future is brighter I guess.
So far they can do it with minial interest rate hikes and FIMA repo to prop up the yen.
>>
>>540852546
Maybe it has something to do with the lack of oil. I wonder how the US is linked to this. Hmmmm
>>
>>540855983
Debt is debt and needs to be serviced no matter who holds it, period. They need to pay down the massive debt that they have so that they can raise rates with out defaulting on their debt. That means dumping their foreign holdings (treasuries) which then fucks US rates and economy.

Japs are stuck between two calamities and they are running out of time.

The samurai code states that they must commit hara-kiri for the sake of their master. Japan will betray its samurai spirit if they betray the US and do not bear the brunt of the crisis themselves.

They afford to have higher rates since their debt to gdp is relatively lower than Japan.
Normally if rates go up the currency should not go down in value but Yen is doing exactly that.
Market is not willing to hold yen are demanding higher rates but Japan's debt burden won't allow too aggressive rate hikes.

thats bonds aka gov debt and its being more expensive meaning that no one is buying and that the gov increases how much they pay in interest to anyone willing to hold jap debt

that may matter to richfags but it doesn't mean shit to the rest of us
the US since the great recession has proved that a booming stock market is more than compatible with wide social inequality and good jobs becoming impossible to find
>>
>>540858029
it absolutely fucks Japanese people who have to spend more to get less.
>>
>>540858010
The question is, can they print money without issuing debt? If so why should a government issue debt to print its own paper currency? Makes no sense.
>>
>>540858289
printing money steals money from all those who currently own yen

selling bonds (debt) to foreigners takes money from people who dont own yen (foreigners) but you pinky promess you ll pay back and also you give them free money as a bonus (interest)

It is the central bank’s policy interest rate—rather than 10-year government bonds—that influences exchange rates.
And since Japan’s current policy interest rate is 1.0% and the U.S. rate is 3.5%, the yen is simply weakening due to that interest rate differential.

The reason for this interest rate differential is that the war in Russia caused global energy prices to skyrocket, leading to inflation, and as a result, countries around the world raised interest rates to counteract it. (See the graph for 2022.)
Since Japan did not experience significant inflation at that time, there was no need to raise interest rates.
>>
>>540854212
Even with Hormuz closed, oil is dirt cheap, if oil kept up with inflation it would be $200/bbl
Japan's inflation is entirely because they imported Jeet immigrants who are driving up housing and rice costs
Japan will be forced to import American goyslop to feed its population
>>
>>540859220
India is not a particularly major source of immigration to Japan, and overall population is declining, not increasing.
This may be a bad idea for other reasons, but how could it possibly cause inflation?
