Just dug out my old phone, this bad boy could stay on standby for three weeks, 24 hours talk time, weighs like 4 ounces, is so small that you could fit two into a cigarette packet... has a camera, and doesn't spy on you or show you ads at all. You can't buy anything like this these days, you can get phones that are almost as small, almost as light, and appear to be dumbphones, but they're really running a modern OS and the baseband sucks down your power in a day or two if you're lucky. Shit you can't even turn a modern phone fully off.

Brondi is still making old style phones for older people.

My first amateur radio handheld transceiver, I got it like 20+ years ago. VX-3. It's even smaller than the Nokia in the pic, a bit deeper but shorter and less wide. Still works great. This bad boy has about 100 custom mode settings, and if you set SAVE 5 and some other ones judiciously, you can operate for a week without recharging. You'occasionally miss the very start of a transmission but it's usually just somebody calling CQ and you can always ask them to repeat themselves. And it takes a super common cell phone battery that is dirt cheap.

Moden HTs last like, half a day.

I read an article about how they achieved this incredibly low power consumption, they had a microcontroller controlling all the different systems in the radio, and it would tell everything to shut down for 5 seconds, then wake up the receiver, and if there was a signal that broke squelch (if activated) it would then power up the screen and speaker and mic. Otherwise it would instantly (within 0.1 sec) shut everything down and wait another 5 seconds and check again.

They can't do that any more, nothing boots up that fast nor can it be shut down safely that quickly. It's lost technology.

There is room for small manufacturers to do better than globohomoslop still. It's just that there's an entire predatory market of VCs whi are secretly working for big tech whose desire is to fold any startup into big tech.
>>
Shit I learned modern phones don't even have a fucking proper power supply, the battery is part of the circuit instead of having capacitors and converters for the various things that could run off the USB power. It's why your phone needs to charge for a minute before you can even turn it on if the battery depletes completely. Your phone goes dead and it's an emergency? You might have to plug in and wait 15 minutes until the phone is charged up enough to even BOOT lol.

No, you're just old now. This is what your parents said when you were young.
>>
I have an old Tektronix battery powered storage scope, a portable and quite small one, and it has a big Ni-Cad battery inside that's part of the power supply, it was quite unusual to see something like that back in the day. But they did that so it wouldn't need a heavy power supply which in those days was still linear. To do so in a modern phone when a proper power system which can power the entire phone from USB fits on a teeny tiny chip or module.

No it's quite the opposite, older people think all this shitty disposable tech is great. My father in law's a judge and he has these hearing aids with Bluetooth, I don't even have to tell you how little that makes sense for somebody who works with confidential information, I've tried to explain it to him but he doesn't seem to give a shit. It's all Dick Tracy tier whiz bang shit to them.

You have to charge it every weak. 3 - 4 times per month and it is smaller then my dick. Dose not suck your money with internet connection excuse , no adds no updates and after 20 years it just die.
For the price of the lunch in a workers joint.
I didn't have awareness, that I have a phone only remember number in case some one need to reach me.

Very bad for business, no surveillance function.
Goyim shouldn't have it.

Shame radio transmission is useless since bands are so limited, encryption is illegal, and retired boomers will literally make it their job to find and narc on anyone breaking their precious radio rules.
>>
I don't like how phones need to be as thin as possible. I'd rather 3x thickness with bigger battery and a better camera, for example.

sounds like cope and tinfoil

I remember back in the day when the trend was going smaller and smaller and whoever was caught using a big cellphone was publicly humiliated. I was one of them because of poorfaggotry I could only afford a rather long albeit thin phone and everybody would laugh at me. Then smartphones came along and suddenly everybody was OK using a large phone again.
t.still traumatized over 2 and a half decade later.

Ancient Chinese secret—capitalism have many buttholes, not many pussy

Crazy how America, Europe, everyone is too busy robbing taxes from the poor to ever do shit about anything but steal more money. Power could not be put into the hands of an egomaniacal villain fast enough to stop the worthless thieves running this shitshow

me feels as a culture, should come up with analog electronic mechanisms,
make them from scratch - using locally available resources, without pollution,
and start making communication tools and computational tools based on these analog electronic mechanisms,

it should be shared freely and should be repairable (again no pollution, no institution and corporations )

should really try to understand electricity

should really try to understand life

Not sure what you mean, and you haven't addressed the issue. I like the concept of radio, but it's covered in red tape and is actually monitored unless you truly love in bumfuck nowhere. If there are genuine ways to bypass this without it being traced back to you, I'm entirely on board. But unless I entirely misunderstand radio broadcasting, it doesn't sound like anonymity is possible while using it. If you can show otherwise I'd love to hear it.

It's actually pretty disturbing some of the consumer goods I get from china now outlast the items from South Korea and the US.
The west seems to be more interested in embracing nanny stateism rather than innovation or knocking of products like china does and then making them cheaper without completely compromising quality.
Obviously some Chinese stuff is junk before some dumb fuck boomer who hasn't bought anything in 10 years claims "china man" or something stupid.
>>
>>540883216
Chinesium still exists and they still manufacture millions of tonnes of garbage, but the only reason they still do is that dumbfuck niggerfaggots around the world order the cheapest possible shit from AliExpress to save money.
NOBODY ever taught these retards that cheap isn't cheerful, but they don't care anyway, they want their goods and they want them as cheap as possible and you're wrong for telling them to get the slightly better option that won't break in a week but in a year.
Chinese production used to peak at that level but that was 30 years ago.
Their domestic-aimed production was steadily improving, ever so slowly, until it reached parity with western manufacturing about 10 years ago.
Nobody spends the money on those products abroad, they want their cheap shit cheaply.
But Chinese people happily buy top Chinese manufacturing so they can be proud of their nation, employ more Chinese labourers, and further Chinese R&D which has long passed the stealing phase.
I'm not even waxing China's dick here. This is the economic reality of their light and heavy industries, which are not where Top Gear showed them they were 12 years ago.
