I was born 2007. Yes, I am zoomer scum. However I am very grateful as I was born right at the precipice of the invention of and mass adoption of the smartphone. I grew up using computers a lot by myself and so I was forced to develop basic problem solving capabilities. It seems lots of people in my generation, especially people at the tail end, never had this exposure to computers. They rely entirely on the simplified smartphone user interfaces and workflows in order to function. I had many people in my year 12 class that were incapable of plugging a usb into their computer, navigating to the folder where they saved their work and writing the information to the usb. AI will of course accelerate this rot. There is also the fact that almost no one my age engages with books.

I can't comment on what goes on in class, but in terms of homework it is still done by hand in a notebook. Although this is a single school in Australia. I don't know about global trends. Math 436/536 here which is Secondary 4th year and 5th "advanced math" that you have to qualify for is trig that's it and some basic chemistry and physics ie pulleys and ionic and covalent bonds and maybe a redux equation or two. I saw a video recently about how modern children are learning to read by trial and error and memorizing whole words instead of looking at the letters to sound them out phonetically. Growing up with screens exacerbates this so these people can have basic, ritualistic conversations in writing but are functionally retarded when you need them to come up with something new or explain something
